Dell Wireless Better Than Intel - Page 2

When it came to the older cards I did choose DELL over INTEL since for just a little more money I would have compatiblity with a, b, and g. However now that INTEL supports all three protocols I decided to go with the new 2915ABG. At this point I don't really know if it is superior/inferior to the DELL 1450, but for the reasons above I simply decided I would go with the 2915ABG. If I do run into issues I can always get DELL to replace it within 21 days (or return the whole notebook).

This has been a great thread, because of you guys I just upgraded my 2200 card to the Dell 1450. It may delay my shipping a week but it will be worth it for the better range and less drops. Thanks Guys!

Yeah, I've been trying to get thru to Dell Chat to have them replace my Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG with a Dell TM1450 (it's the same price as the TM1350, so no money lost.) BUT, everytime I try to get thru to chat I get a "page cannot be displayed" error.

Dell says the new card is "lead free," which makes me worry about the TM1350. Poisonous!

LOL...maybe that's suposed to be pronounced "LEED" (as in the antenna lead wires), so all it does is plug in and you don't have to put those little wire clips on it. not sure how that would work though...

Broadcom generally make better performing wifi cards (TM1300/1350/1400/1450) compared to the intel counterparts of course thats just IMHO

well I'm not sure if it is the anetannae or the card, but the reality is I get much better range. So on balance I would order the dell except I do have one other issue which is the subject of its own NEW post....whenever this card locks onto one wireless signal I have to reboot to get the new signal to work for internet surfing....
