Can anyone get thru to Dell chat?

I've tried all of them, and each time, when I click SUBMIT after putting my info in, it says "Page cannot be displayed". If I click refresh, it tells me all chat reps are busy and to try again later. Bu the main chat page shows reps are available!

Yeah, it's getting flooded like the phone support, expecially the portable chat. What's worse they disconnect you more frequently than waiting on the phone. Just hit Reconnect on the bottom so you don't have to fill out your info again

I CAN'T hit reconnect. I can't even get THRU! Didn't you read my post? When I click "submit", I get the "page cannot be displayed" error, and if I hit refresh, it tells me all chat reps are busy. This has been happening since last night! It's happening at home and work, so it's not my connection.

Oh, so you're not even past stage one of dell chat hell. I prefer the phone support then because at least they won't bump you from the queue.

Funny........I actually just told this to Mich in a PM...........

I haven't been able to chat for about a year now. For some reason, Dell has my small biz # (I bought a system on a deal a long time ago that was under the small biz side so I just ordered it & made a small biz account) as my Home account # and my home account # shows nothing at all.

Now when I look at my order history, I can clearly see both my Home account info (lots of systems & *stuff*) and my small biz account (a couple systems at most) but because the Chat "customer number finder" has it bassackwards....I get the message, "We're sorry but your info is not recognized as home/soho", so I'm SOL!!

It's almost funny, but it's Dell, so not too much surprises me anymore.....har har!!!

I've used it a few times with sales and technical support... it usually takes about 10 minutes to get connected to a rep... you also have an option later to get a transcript copy thru email

For me the chat never works in IE. Firefox runs it just fine though. You should try that. IE would always fail to display pages or not refresh in Dell's chat (not that anyone there was helpfull anyway though).

when it says page cannot be displayed, just press back and just keep on saying hello and everytime it go back to page cannot be displayed, just press back again and you are still on the waiting line. just keep on saying hello and after the 4th or 5th, they ussually answer. just be patient.

I said this before: the least hassle way of dealing with dell support: either email support or via phone that has a speakerphone so you don't have to hold the phone while waiting

when I asked a question about XPS2... one rep didn't have any info so I emailed him XPS2 owner's manual so he could see what I was asking about.

Here's the links in case you get a rep who doesn't know there's a manual...

if you have firewall up it chat doesn't like to work well, i have had to keep reloading...it auto disconnects if you don't input within 2 minutes...it seems more like 30 seconds though..and even if you get someone, chances are they will tell you to call tech support or customer service...like they always tell me to do everytime i have done dell chat

i also do the chat while being on hold on the telephone and normally it seems i always get someone on each at the same time...thank god for headphone mics

As I said already, I don't even get to that point. As SOON as I click "NEXT" after filling in my info it says "page cannot be displayed". It's not a problem with IE or a firewall - I was using this very computer to chat with them 2 days ago. Same thing at home. I do not get to the point where the dialog box pops up saying there is both secure and insecure content, etc. As SOON as I press next, it's "page cannot be displayed" - ergo, I can't get thru to their chat!

Someone try to chat with them, tell me if you can get thru. Maybe it's something in my area, but I doubt it as I can get to any other website (and everything else on dell.com) just fine.

Yeah, it has to be - I sent an IM to my buddy in NC, and he got the same issue.

Hey, quit following me around!

WTH is going on then? That's freakin' weird...

edit: Nope...same issue for me. STILL getting "page cannot be displayed" as soon as I click next.

edit: I just tried it in Mozilla FireFox, and it says "The system cannot find the file specified."

It HAD to have been an issue on Dell's end - because I just tried to get into Dell Custoemr Service chat, and it works! Finally.
