Bios A06 is Now Available - Page 5

I like what the update has done to the fan. Isn't running quite as high as often as before. I can live without the FN+Z+R function. Although I wish fangui would work properly. other than that no gripes.

Let me get it straight. There never was a single overclocking feature in any version of Inspiron XPS/9100's BIOS, right? So, nothing was changed in A06 from this stand point. The only missing thing is FN+Z+R function. But CPUFSB still works fine, right?

It would seem that way.

Mass Confusion!!!!!!

My dvd drive keeps ejecting every time I restart windows after I installed the bios update. May be a coincidence.

maybe you guys have a different a06 than me but cpufsb would not work for me when i installed a06, it works since i flashed back to a05. so for me, no fan control and no oc there is no way i will install new bios to fix a stand by issue that doesn't bother me in the first place.

Hehe looks like I shall stay away from this bios update.

My XPS (Northwood) is running the A03 bios.

Let's see...

A04 was for the Prescott processor - don't need it.
A05 was a fix for the F'd up A04 - don't need it.
A06 appears to be F'd up like A04 - I can wait.

I am sooo glad that I have the Northwood in my machine.

You can get it from the Dell's site, there is the link Previous Versions on the BIOS page. I believe that A05 is not a bit heavier then A03, despite improved Prescott support, so why not to go to A05, you might need Prescott support in the future.

Hmm good point VRT. I might actually dload both A03 and A05. Just in case. Because I was moving to a Northwood I thought maybe A05 would not be needed cause it was meant for Prescott chips.
