Here's what I've configured:

- Pentium M 760 (2 GHz)
- 17" UXGA screen
- 512 MB RAM (will upgrade aftermarket)
- 256MB nVidia GeForce Go Ultra (the whole reason for the XPS2)
- 60GB 7200 RPM HDD
- 8x CD/DVD burner with dual-layer support
- Intel 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps)
- Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal(2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate)
- Adobe Acrobat Elements ($20, seemed handy)
- Personalization Shield w/ Inserts (I'm a nerd, sue me)
- 4 Yr Ltd Warr,4 Yr At-Home plus Nights and Weekend ($ 100 rebate on this)
- XPS Specialized Support

EPP Discount of $500
EPP Warranty Discount of $354.48
Free Shipping (2-day) saves $69.00

Before taxes total: $ 2599.52

Any thoughts? I'm not going with Complete Care because I have a home insurance rider.

Do you need it for a clean install?

naaa
i think its a joke....
lol
I think floppys are out now... unless you have an older digital camera or still use floppy's

For fresh install, you pc can boot from cd so floppy drive is not needed....

Ohh ya, id go with the complete care... its nice and itd be easier if you break your pc... for the price... its worth it!

Cool system. Wish I could get one. Oh yeah, I can! Foppy drives are nice for storing stamps or heating a nice cookie. Other than that, I can't think of what you'd use one for. Windows installs are done from bootable CD rom's these days, but if you have certain custom hardware such as a RAID controller you can need a floppy during the install. Unfortunately, though, the iXPS2 does not utilize RAID. So unless you need a cookie heated, I'd spend the extra 15$ on some gum and stickers for your bike.

It's cheaper to get your ram from Dell if you’re going to upgrade to 1-gig. Normally this is not the case, but this time it is. With your 12% EPP discount it will be hard to beat, unless you wait for ram prices to drop.

floppies still have their uses these days. for those of you who are using the hitachi drives, or many other drives actually, would know about the hitachi feature tool (something to access the properties of your hitachi hdd, such as lowering the noise made by it), and the hitachi diagnosis program, which can write zeros and do maintenance on your hdd? well unless you are able to get these programs onto cd through the ultimatebootcd, i'd still recommend getting a floppy drive.

They work just fine off of the Ultimate Boot CD.

Back on the topic-- If you want better than desktop 6800 GT performance in a laptop, then the XPS 2 is your ticket.

I used the $750 coupon in the coupon thread at the top of the main page.

Got the -$750 and 12% off from EPP.

I did not even order it online, I bought on the phone from an EPP rep.

Hmmm...that code doesn't work online with an EPP purchase. Grrrrr....
