a75-s209 doesn't recognize PNY (Samsung) 512meg memory addon

Howdy!

I have a beautiful a75s209, but only 512 megs of the stock memory. I bought a PNY (Samsung chips) N512d27opt 512meg pc2700 200-pin memory addon, but the laptop doesn't recognize it at all.

Faulty memory board, or is the laptop just incompatible with all PNY/samsung chips? Any other possibilities?

thanks

as most know Toshiba only tests and sells (after purchase) Kingston Memory (even if they do use other in the initial sell). I usually use Crucial myself for memory (crucial.com). Is the PNY chip say it works with your model? Or did you just match the specs? Sometimes (especially with notebooks) while it may look the same spec wise, something was left out that causes it not to work. I would try Crucial or Kingston myself. Good Luck

that is not the right PNY part #, you need a N512D27CUSA or N512D32OPT.

Yes, thank you for the responses. I did order kingston memory, but the incompetant ebay seller sent me desktop ram instead of notebook, and said in exchange I'll I get is PNY, so I hoped it would work.

EDIT:

Yep, I found out. a75 needs 64x64 setup for memory boards. PNY sells only 32x16. . . .
