Installing wireless antennae possible?

Hello,

I currently have a somewhat old Compaq Presario 2135us that does not have built in wireless. I inspected the notebook and found that there is a Mini PCI slot available, and I was wondering if it is possible to turn this machine into a wireless notebook.

The main problem is that I did not see the antennae connections that would attach to the mini pci wireless card. Is it possible to install these antennaes myself? Has anyone ever done this, and can point me to some resources? Thanks for your help!

i think it would be easier if you just got a PCMCIA card, the ant. connection on mini pci cards are very small, they break easy so if you are trying to put some sort of pringles can ant on i dont think the ant wires/dongles are gonna work too well

how to check if ur laptop has a mini-PCI slot???

i want to check if my portege 3480CT has mini-PCI slot..

Hmm..

is mini-PCI slots not available on older model laptops?? like my Porteget 3480CT with a P3 600Mhz and using Intel 440 chipset..

On the bottom, like memory, there will be a cover for the minipci card.. You either have it or you dont.

Yeah a pcmcia card would be the quickest way and lot easier to connect external attenna to em.

yeap..

but there's only 2 PCMCIA slot available and my laptop does'nt have ethernet port.

I'll need a USB2.0 PCMCIA card but not too sure whether i should get a network PC card or a wireless network card??
