Sorry, I just noticed that the 2405fpw was on only 50% brightness compared to the 2005fpw on 100% brightness. I will update my photos later.

Nice. I just got my 2405FPW today. Love it!

How are you guys connecting, anyone using DVI and were you able to go 1920x1200 and what card are you using?
Yes, I've also got both the 2405FPW and 2005FPW. Both are connected via DVI. I've got a 6800 GTO in my desktop, and it has dual-DVI outputs.

I also have a second desktop with VGA out, so that one is plugged into the 2005FPW's VGA input, and I can switch displays between the two machines at the touch of a button.

I was just playing LotR The Return of the Kings DVD on my 2405FPW. Damn, it looks gooood.

1. I am using the DVI for the 2405fpw.

2. I can get it to it to 1900x1200.

3. I use it with my desktop which has a ATI Radeon X850 XT PE graphics card.

Cool , hope my 9800 Pro can do the same. Thanks.

Dellbert,
Have you tried the display with your 700m? Does it work? I have read some stuff suggesting that it will not work with certain graphics, and I think on dell's site, it just says it will work with the new intel integrated, not specifying the centrino1 integrated graphics such as on the 700m.

OK, just tried it. With the 700m in dual monitor mode, the best it could do was 1280x800 on the laptop and 1280x768 on the 2400FPW. Higher rez settings on the 2400FPW would still produce a clear signal, but for some reason they wouldn't stretch to full monitor. 1920x1200 had a black bar on the left side of the display for some reason.

In single monitor mode, I was able to run 1600x1200 on the 2400FPW, and that looked fine, but 1920x1200 would still create that black bar. I fiddled a little more with other resolutions, and I managed to get the Blue Screen of Death.

That was the end of my experiment

wow very nice setup, I was wondering those dell members w/ the Gen 4 XPS if you don't mind posting or pming your benchmarks in 3dmark03 and 05...wanted to do a comparison w/ my AW since I was looking at both machines prior to my purchase, but was won over when I couldn't find any Dell Desktop coupons and AW offered a $500 off + free shipping deal at the time...

again those displays are soo nice

Yeah, HP, Samsung, Apple. But you'll pay waaaaay more. I have to say, the 2405FPW is the nicest LCD monitor I've ever used. I thought the 2005FPW was pretty cool when I got it, but the 2405FPW is bigger, brighter, higher rez, less of a sheen from the anti-glare coating, and more inputs. It's PERFECT.

Oh, and zero dead pixels and no light leakage!

from the pic rly33 posted... it looks like the monitor pivots to portrait view... but i don't see this feature mentioned on dell's website... can someone confirm this functionality?

I can't wait to see mine on Monday. Sometimes UPS doesn't run here till as late as 8pm, so I hope that Monday isn't our route's day on the late end of the route.

I haven't tried it, but yes, it's there. It slices. It dices. And the manual is here:

http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...lish/index.htm

Edit: OK, I finally got around to trying portrait mode. Freaky! I'm not sure I could get used to this. The resolution is high enough that's it literally like having two monitors stacked one upon the other. Scrolling is a little weird. My graphics card must be optimized for "normal" scrolling, because there's a little "wave" as the screen catches up with scrolling in portrait mode.

And I'm get a neck strain trying to read from top to bottom. It's a lonnng way from top to bottom.
