not really cheap. Similarly configured I9300 in singapore cost the same with only 1 exception, processor is 1.73 as compared to 2.0 in australia. Thats the only difference.

No seriously, for Australia that is REALLY CHEAP. All up, I configured a system that I was quoted over $5000 for last week for under $3500. Now I wish I could order from the US, or Singapore or the UK, but Dell won't let me, so I'll take a +$1500 price reduction any day of the week.

Cheers

holy shit nooooo
the same confingured with a 256 graphics card is $600 less then what i bought my 9200

I'm trying real hard resisting from the temptation of yet another upgrade. I really would regret it if Dell Australia comes out with the XPS2 in a few weeks. The only real difference between my 9200 and this 9300 is the 256mb video card. The battery life for the 9200 though would be at least 1-2 hours more.

If someone would know if there's in fact a chance at all that XPS2 will appear in Australia that would be great.

I'd probably try real hard holding off the upgrade this weekend....

...Or you could order the 9300 now, wait your 7 days before paying, wait your 2 weeks before shipping, wait just before your 21 days to return then... if the XPS2 has been released and seems reasonable, return it or...if the XPS2 hasn't been released after almost 6 weeks, it probably won't be. Win/win (or pretty close anyway).

Cheers

Heh I just ordered a 2nd 9300 with those deals, save myself $2000, hopefully I can return the one that will arrive in a few days under the total satisfaction policy. Luckily I'm working this weekend to get my mind of it, otherwise It'd be the slowest weekend EVAR.

Hi guys:
I ordered a 6000 on Friday night. However, I ordered the exactly machine twice due to the order system crashed on dell web site. I rang them yesterday, and they are not open till Monday. It seems 9300 is a nicer, so I am wondering if I can cancel my orders (two 6000s I really meant one) and order a 9300 instead?
but if Dell is willing to give 33% off now... isnt it logic to wait for even greater discounts following this? Or has Dell made discounts like this in the past as a one off deal?
sounds like they are lowering their 9300 inventory to stock up on the XPS2.
Dell Oz have offered this type of deal quite regularly over the last few months. The largest reductions are on their higher end notebooks and desktops but they are only for the inspiron/dimension range not M70 and other small business focussed machines. It may take a month or two for such a good deal to come arround again and who knows what machines they may release by then. A word of warning theses "$1000 off" sales for one weekend a month are just the pattern of late. There are no guarantees of what deals will happen in the future.
After thinking seriously about the deal I think I'm happy to hold off this interim upgrade till the arrival of the XPS2 which WILL be a more worthwhile upgrade from the 9200. For the moment the increase in performance of the go6800 over the 9700 is not yet worth the up to 2 hours reduction in battery life for me.

Also from hearing that XPS2 is gonna appear in Europe shortly means that Australia also has a chance of offering this model. I would regret big time if I plunge myself into the current deal and find the XPS2 available in a month or so.

The deal is still a very good one though. For anyone not aiming to get the ultimate XPS2 I highly recommend getting the 9300 NOW. I doubt there would be another deal for at least another month or so.

How's this for bad timing - I'd been eyeing off the 9300 for a while but it was too expensive so I decided to pick up a Powerbook for sex appeal instead.

Sure enough, Dell does a massive discount on the 9300 only a few days after I get my PB so now I've ordered the 9300 at this awesome new price and have to find a buyer for my PB sometime over the next few days so I can pay off my 9300 order.

Wish me luck selling my PB but I can't wait to get my Dell!

On top of this awesome deal (33% off and free video card upgrade) there is a FURTHER $300 off orders that are upgraded and completed on the Web, PLUS a free leather bag under certain conditions.

Time is running out though...

Just put mine through, was unfortunately only able to make use of the 33% off and free video. They won't let me do the further 300 bucks off as I'm not buying over the Web. Which is bullshit but what can you do...

Finally I will have the 6800Go... Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Any idea how long this thing will take to ship?
10 working days was what they told me. Apparently there is no hold up on parts here in Australia.

Cheers

Where is the link to this deal?. I have already taken delivery of my 9300, so I want to see how much cheaper one is with this deal

Xps2

The $64,000 question is ..... Are we going to see the XPS2 in Australia.....no one in Dell Australia will or can say......how hard can it be for someone to say one way or another what the Dells intentions are re this model
post #20 of 38
I doubt we'll see it, and if we do it'll be over $4k which makes the sub-$3k 9300 look even more attractive I reckon.

Bah, who am I kidding, I'd kill for that 6800 Ultra card.
