The spec's are as follows:

Centrino 760(2GHZ)
17 INCH TRUE LIFE,WUXGA
1GB,DDR2,533MHZ,2 DIMM
256MB NVIDIA 6800
60GB HARD DRIVE, 7.2K RPM
24X COMBO CD-RW/DVD
INTEL PRO/WRLS 2915,A/B/G
80 WHR,9-CELL,LION,PRIM BATT
3 Year BUSINESS COMPLETE CARE (includes on-site repair and accidental damage coverage)
Windows XP Pro

Total Price including taxes, shipping and handling: $2570

I will also have a $130 rebate, so price after rebate is $2430.

What I want to know is:

-if people are getting the 9300 with similar spec's at a significantly lower price.

-whether or not I should do a clean re-install. If so, whether I can use the re-install disk and just opt out of some of the useless software.

-if people are using different video driver that has been tested as stable or if they are going with the default Dell drivers.

-if people think this is a good primary computer for gaming as well as business. I got this for business use but it will be my main gaming computer.

Thanks for the help.

For gaming....

For gaming, I think it will be great, judging from 3dmark scores on this board anyways. Its more then double my current desktop scores which can play halflife 2 with decent settings perfectly.

I got mine for around the same price, though I have a few differences.

Clean reinstall is really up to you. I probably wouldn't do a reinstall if I was going to use the same operating system as what came on it. I'm installing Windows 2003 Server.

I don't know too much about driving video. I always have mine driven for me.

It's decent for gaming. Myself, I have a desktop and a 30 inch wide screen hdtv lcd for gaming. Also a full sized keyboard is preferred for gaming. The video card in the 9300 is really pretty sufficient for gaming, though you could do better with a desktop card. It's a really good notebook for business, depending on your business. It's a little clunky for moving around a lot or trying to use at client sites alot. It's also a little big for using on a plane. That being said, I take mine (currently a similarly sized Sony 17 inch) to meetings and using on airplanes all the time.
