new hd in 700m - not found?

hi - i just bought a seagate 100gb hd for my 700m - its not finding it when i install - any ideas?

How are you attaching it? via a hard drive enclosure?

i took out the old 30 gig - and plugged this one in using the adapter from the old one

And the BIOS sees it? What exactly are you trying to do? Install a fresh copy of windows on it?

bios does not see it

installing old hd and bios sees it immediately

no jumper - it said master = no jumper

Many people here have the 700m but none with the 100gb drive that I've seen. So if you manage to install it, let us know.

its back in the box now - will take it back to best buy tomm and see what they say

i cant get it to work for the life of me on either laptop (old p3 compaq)

thanks and i will let you know what happens - im sure i will have to fight with them

hard drive must have been bad because new one worked immediatedly
