Who, where, and what?

I bought 1 GB DDR2-533 SODIMM, qty. 2, @ newegg.com. Kingston. In stock, already shipping. Roughly $220 each. Easy to find, just go to the laptops section and then into laptop memory, and use their configurator. You could also check memory4less.com.

Are there different types on RAM to use in the 9300? What is the difference? Which is best?

check dells own prices !
i got 2gb for $623 total

its on back order but they charge $400 more to put 2gb in the system at build time. crazy!

Kingston is what most people get. I would just get a lifetime warranty version and it should all run the same. All notebook versions have the same timings right now.

er, you paid $623 but you could have gotten it for only $400?

I paid $397.99 at Memory4Less.com for 2gb Kingston.

kingstons part number listed for the 1gb 9300 memory is KTD-INSP6000A/1G

this memory is around $300 if you froogle it.

im not sure what spec the $200 memory is or if its inferioritiy is significant, but theres definitely some difference. without knowing what you got specifically i cannot say

im no memory expert, so maybe someone else can explain if anything other than this part # is suitable

the memory spec on dells site for 9300 ram is :

Package Type: 200-pin DIMM
Logical Type: 128x64
Speed: PC2-4200 / 533 MHz
Description: Non-Parity, Unbuffered
Units Required: 1
System Type: Standard SODIMM

I cannot find ANY 200 pin memory on newegg.com.
i do find PC2-4200 RAM @ 533mhz, but its listed as 240 pin at the $~200 range

i dont know much about memory but that seems a little bit of a discrepency.
i'd just hate to see someone get their new lappy and not have the RAM fit inside!

Who has actually REPLACED the factory RAM? I would be very curious what vendor and part number. I appreciate all the help. Laptops have not been my deal up 'til now... if this goes right, it could be for good!

Touchdown for my 9300 is week of 3/25.

I've replaced mine with the Kingston Module that I bought. No problems. You can look in the long memory post for the one I got.

I am finding conflicting information on which 1GB stick to purchase for the 9300.

Option #1 KTD-INSP6000A/1G

Option #2 KVR533D2S4/1G

Which one is the proper memory for the 9300?

probably the first (more expensive)

how many pins is the second one?

This is the description that I found for the Kingston #KVR533D2S4/1G. This industry standard 1GB PC2-4200 533MHz 200-pin Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM has a 1.8V operating voltage and 128M x 64 organization.

Out of curiousity, I got 2 200pin memories in my 9100, will they fit and work?
No, they are not DDR2 PC4200.

The question was answered in the 2nd post. Also there is a HUGE thread about this already.
