i held off on buying an 8600 or D800 last week because the featured promotions did not benefit my particular requirements

and after the wednesday update, i definitely don't see anything too exciting

i've only been following this junk for about a week or two, so i'm just curious how long i might have to wait before a new round of extra good deals is offered? (hefty instant rebates + good upgrades + 10% stackable coupons... that kinda thing)

i'm ready to purchase at any time. just holding tight for a deal i can feel good about

Mostly speculation, but probably 2 weeks or more. The deals on the 8600 last week were pretty good, and I've heard of a lot of people getting some good configurations for under $2000. 10% stackables are for sale on eBay, fatwallet, etc.

I too am pretty disapointed at this weeks deals... next week should be better, but don't hold your breath.

Should have bought last week...there was a - 10% floating around, 150 and 250 off coupons plus 250 off from dell and free cd writer. They don't get much better than that. SHould have jumped on it while you had the chance, I did.

yeah it seems that way now

but i had just started shopping at the time and wanted to make sure i understood all the options. luckily i'm not in a rush.

another question related to coupons: i've seen several people mention some secret way to tack on an additionl 2% to the 10% stackables. sounds fishy. anyone care to spill the beans?

If I've learned anything from shopping online -- the deals will come again. Just be patient. Although, it always does seem to come the week after you ordered.

Sigh!

yes the 'secert' way is either 2% ebates or 3% fatcash (from fatwallet.com , great bargain hunter's site)

I got on the deal last week, but I missed the coupons ! :\

I never saw a 10% for Dell HOME division, in fact never heard of it'

there was a 150 off but I missed the date because I decided to get it only witht the option for the 7200rpm hd, which was released after teh coupon expired

net cost was about 2000. expensive. I've never paid that much for a computer, so hopefully this will tie me down for the next four years, though I get the feeling it won't...
