What Desktop Do you Use? What Make? How Old?
I use the one I built. My last major upgrade was about 2 years ago. P4, 2.0Ghz, 512Mb RAM, ATI 7500 64Mb, Sound Blaster Live!. I'm still using the original keyboard and case that my computer came with when I bought it in 1998. I go by the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The one I built... See Sig...

Last upgrade was my Koolance EXOS AL water cooling kit, my next upgrade will be the GPU water block.

lol...my last desktop was a pentium 120 mhz, 32 mb ram, 2 gig hdd, 16x cd-rom...i built it in 1995 or something like that...it was so old, it was a real desktop, not a tower...lasted me through college, even though it made me want to hurt myself, it was so slow...

edit: i think those stats are correct...i know for sure it was 120mhz, anyway...

Old Gateway 450. Upgraded last year:

1.8 Ghz Centrino 2 (one time upgrade on a slot T Pentium 3, and the clock-locked FSB is choking this upgrade, I'm getting 1.4 Ghz out of it! Damn Gateway!)
512 Ram
120 Gig hard drive, slaved.
Had to get a 10/100 ethernet card for it, and an Ultra ATA/133 controller 'cuz the old one couldn't see the new hard drive.
Added FireWire and USB 2.0 ports
Sony CD R/RW
Added a Bluetooth keyboard
Added an Nvidia GeForce 64 MB graphics card about a year before last.

Looking back at my upgrade list, looks like I shoulda bought a new damn computer! But I loved fiddlin' with it, and making it viable for the short term. I do a ton of work on this desktop. I still feel more comfortable making Photoshop and Illustrator projects on it, and I love playing Call of Duty multiplayer here. It'll end up as an internet server in my basement someday soon, but for now, it makes a great internet and storage facility sitting next to my XPS!

Mine was/is one I built - 1.5ghz P4, 512mb ram (rambus!), 64mb GForce 4, 60gb 7200 hdd, CD-RW, and misc extras like firewire, usb2, an extra DVD rom, etc. Then when I moved back to the States in 2003, I got my 8890 and haven't even booted it up since. I really need to sell it...

built this one and just upgrade it when i get around to it... the computer is silent - no audible noise comes from it.

amd64 3400+ with zalman cnsp7000B Cu heatsink. s754 newcastle (wish i would have waited for winchester)

DFI Lanparty nforce3 motherboard (wish i had waited for nforce4)

ati radeon 9700 with zalman zm80d heatsink

1 gig OCZ pc3200

samsung spinpoint sp-1213c - second most silent hard drive aside from the barracuda IV (models with the nidec motor are anyways, i've heard the spinpoints with JVC motors have a slight high pitched noise that's audible up to 6 feet)... cuda IV's performance is subpar and 3rd generation now though, so i deal with the spinpoint and sandwiched/suspended it... no audible noise.

modified Seasonic psu

case is a modified version of a lian li pc-60.. just a couple tweaks to it so the hard drive isn't touching any metal and to improve airflow since all the fans are undervolted.

Bought my girlfriend a pretty nice Voodoo last year, but my own desktop is a super cheapo eMachines rig - the cheapest one I could find last October. I don't even remember the specs, and only use it when I'm feeling exceptionally dumb (I really don't know why I bought it!) This post is being typed on a 12" PowerBook.

I use the AW in my sig. I've had it since last September and only had 1 main problem. My power supply died Thanksgiving day, and I had to make due for a few weeks without it. Other than that, it's been perfect.
