3500-watts? Amazing!

My PC broke about 3 weeks ago from a broken PSU. I replaced the PSU with an old one, then a newer one, which broke, so I went back to the old one, which somehow caught something on fire as I smelled burning. I plugged it out for a couple of days, went out, got a new PSU today to find that that isnt the ONLY problem. I dont know whats wrong with it now.

So I might have to scratch mine off this list.

...Why is it that I get the feeling that you're not using good, quality PSes?

And the 3500w ps must've been a typo. The largest computer power supply on the market is 850w and costs almost $500.

I thought there was a 900-watt one? It was supposedly $500 too.

I know it was a typo. I was just being an a$$.

I get that feeling too. Talked with some friends and they said it probably is my motherboard. It turns on but the keyboard lights flash and nothing else happens (no confirmation beep).

Biggest one I've seen is that PCP&C unit; there's a 700w one from Zippy which looks like one hell of a PS (despite the manufacturer's name)...

What brand of pses are you putting in your system?
In the oder used. I dont have them here with me and I dont quite remember the names.

1. Codegen 350w (Came with PC) - Broke this one by overloading.
2. Unknown 400w? - Got this from a friend. It was old and dusty and somehow caught on fire, I think.
3. Coolmax CX-400 400w - link - Got from Newegg, it worked, but cut out at random times.
4. CompUSA Generic 400w - This one seems fine, now that something ELSE in my pc is broken.

EDIT: Sorry for thread hijacking ... we can move the conversation over to here: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=76911

I have 2:
1) Compaq 5bw130 1.13GHz CPU, 40 GB HD, 128MB GeForce 5200 PCI GPU, 320 MB of memory and a 19" CRT. Purchased in 1999. Mostly used by my 3 kids.

2) Just purchased a HP Pavilion A710N. It has a Athlon XP 3100+ CPU, 160 GB HD, 64 MB of onboard GPU, 1 GB of memory and a 19" LCD. Since it has an open AGP slot I will be installing a new vidoe card soon. Purchased in 2005. Can't wait to get the new Video card installed.

I actually have a 3rd computer that my wife uses at her Daycare. It was my first PC. It is a Compaq Presario 8702. It has a Pentium 166 MHz CPU with 56 MB of memory. Purchased in 1996.
