I got the minimum 1 year mail in. Was on a budget >.<

Didn't we already have one of these? Here's what I want to know: How many time did you configure your notebook before you actually purchased it?

I got 2 because I bought mine at the BS site and 2 is the mimum where you could get the oops insurance.

Had 3...got the 4 when I realized it included a $100 rebate...plus, I maxed my EPP discount of 12%.

I think I config'd 3...one in each section of Dell.

i've configured my order so many times because i'm limited with my budget. Thank God for coupon codes. I've picked the best component like 60gb 7200rpm HD, 256mb NVIDIA, UXGA TrueLife screen and I decided I skimp on the warranty for me to stay under my budget. I figured that in the next 2-3 yrs, a better laptop will be introduced and my 9300 will be comparable to a Celeron and an upgrade is necessary so even if it breaks, a warranty service won't indulge me f to play Half-Life 4 Extreme or Doom 5 (Hell Freezes Over) on a laptop.

So I have the standard 1-yr warranty. That's my story and I'm not changing it.

I ordered today and got the four year premium package. They were running a special, $140 off instantly, and since it includes CompleteCare, it ended up being the same price as the two year warranty plus CompleteCare. Plus, this way, I get night and weekend support too!

I got 3 yrs Next Day with the Complete Care accidental coverage. Managed to get that for only an additional $150 Canadian dollars over the normal included warranty.

I must have gone through about a dozen configs including the configs of the original XPS which I *almost* ordered a few days before the XPS Gen2 was on dell.ca.

I started with 1 and then realized for 4 years it'd only be $80 more for next day and on site service with weekends. Hey, $80 is less than a stick of ram for this thing and that's what died after 16 months of operation on my Sony GRZ630. I thought this was a good deal (after rebate).

Note: I hate extended warranties. But this was unusually cheap.

3 years but I should've just got 2 since I plan to sell the XPS 2 within a year when the next model rolls along.

Wont she be 5 and a half then? I saw kids from 3 years old play on computers (!!) ... maybe 3 years down the road the educational software will have so much 3D that they might actually use the current 6800 Ultra capabilities

3 years to get the EPP 12% off. I also indulged in complete care so I never have to worry about stupid people (that includes myself, I try not to be a hypocrite).

I got a 3 year CAR warranty b/c I'm stuck with this new laptop (whether I like it or not) for the next three years. It's for my doctorate so I need it to be running as best as it can. I agre with people saying it will get outdated and a better one will no doubt become available but I don't have that option, hence the 3 year CAR warranty.

What exactly is the deal with Dell's complete care policy? I have read the T&C, but couldn't find it in detail. If toward the end of the 3 year period, I accidentally drop my 9300 and it requires replacement, what happens if the only comparable model Dell have is a 9500 for example. Do they replace it with the upgraded model specs etc?

I got the 2 year on my new XPS Gen 2 because 1 year isn't quite enough and if it dies after 2 years then it's time to buy a new laptop anyway
