Weird problem, Computer not boot !

Hi, I have a problem with my computer since the last thunderstorm. It can't boot up after the light went out... no beep, notthing on monitor... but all fans are working, HDD, DVD, CDRW LED light up.
First I thought my CPU or Motherboard might fried... then 2days later, this morning, I try to boot it up again and it can boot up.... go into Windows like normal. After I turn off the computer and try to start it again, now I can't boot it up, no matter what I did... no beep, nothing on screen.

Any of you who have a desktop, could you try to get the CMOS battery out and boot up the system... see if you can boot it up or not. I think my CMOS battery might be dead... but I'm not sure.

Do you think the CMOS battery is dead? Any idea?

Thanks,

I think that is very likely...however im not sure the thunderstorm had anything to do with it. My desktop got hit (not directly of course) and the HDD was fried, mobo fried...

Check it out and once you're done - please use a surge protector from a reputable manufacturer...

My computer has been the same way lately. The way I've taken care of the problem... reboot as little as possible. Mine has been doing this since the blackout.

And just to see if what's happening to you is exactly like my problem... turn your speakers on. Do you hear a repitive noise coming out of them? Mine kind of sounds like the computer just keeps rebooting itself once every second or so, judging by that sound that is.

Yep,,, CMOS

I just had a brand new compaq desktop delivered that was doing same thing. Would not boot. No POST, Did not initialize video at all. Looked like it was booting and re-booting but never getting anywhere like the previous post just said. I sent it in for warranty repair and it was returned with CMOS as problem repaired. Now i'm not sure what that means exactly, maybe they replaced a bad battery? Flashed the bios? Not sure. But hope this might put you in the right direction.

After try everything I found out the Intel Pentium III 1.10GHz fired. It seem the Bios in Dell motherboard is not smart enough. It should boot up first and tell you no CPU or CPU dead.
