post #63 of 153

For an upgraded graphics card and a different mb that costs less to produce? Arima has the model waiting for a company to pick it up..

So the M9550 wasn't a typo with the last model. I wonder why they're keeping the M9600 labled a M9550?
post #66 of 153
I think its more of a renaming by ATI. When the mr9600 first came out, there a few different clock rates being used by the board manufacturers. It appears they have now subdivided them into mr9550, mr9600, and mr9600 pro.

Let's bet if this model still suffer from cracked hinge.

Gateway 7426GX Specs and info here!

Don't know if it has been made available yet but here is the specs and other info about the upcoming Gateway 7426GX notebook, replacing the 7422GX.

* AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 3700+ DTR (1MB L2 Cache, 2.4GHz)
* ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 (64MB?)
* 15.4" Ultrabright WXGA
* 1GB DDR333
* Dual Layer DVD+RW
* 100GB Hard Drive
* 802.11b/g and 10/100 LAN
* 6-in-1 Card Reader supporting CompactFlash, MicroDrive, MMC, SD, and Sony Memory Stick

Fast CPU! Everything looks exellent featurewise, but when will it get the X600 or X700 GPU?

I don't know, but it looks like they've upgraded this model to the max this time. I don't think there is a Mobile Athlon higher than 3700+ and there isn't a bigger notebook hard drive than the 100gigs. Maybe the next model will finally have 128mb. vram or maybe they'll just put in 2 gigs of ram.
post #72 of 153
Incorrect information on the first link. The 9550 is really the former 9600 that was on all gateways. It was just renamed to account for the different clock speeds the MR9600's have now.

Gateway/Emachines has upgraded their model many times. How come hinge is not perfect yet??? True enough that 7405 & 7422 sufferred much less but still we can find unlucky users here and there......
post #74 of 153
Please everyone post it here in case 7422 went on sale again......
I am not from US but just found out a cousin that works in US and may help me buying this unit.

AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 3700+ DTR (1MB L2 Cache, 2.4GHz).
This is the 81.5 Watt version, right????
What about the mobile 3400+ in existing 7422, is it the same 81.5 W DTR or 65 Watt mobile????
post #77 of 153
The 3700+ DTR is the 81w version which should run a bit hotter than the previous 3400+ Mobile.

I am pretty sure the announcement of the mobile Athlon 64 3700+ (62W) will coincide with this machine. As someone mentioned, they have maxed the computer, so my guess is that the next refreshing is not going to be a refreshing... it is going to be a new model.

Guess for Jul 2005:
Mobile Athlon 64 (Turion?)
x700 128 MB PCI-E

Probaly not Gateway's retail seems to be going at more affordable prices with its retail units. AMD Turion, x700, 60 gig, and etc. The price will probaly be too high... just a guess but I think the x600 might be a possibility. The speeds of a x600 is only like a 9700 tho...
