Anything ever happen with finding 1.4 version of the internal BT driver from Billionton?

I believe that they will still not give out drivers to Sager customers and those drivers will need to come from Sager directly.

Adam, if you're still paying attention, can you ask Sager to get the 1.4 version of their driver to test that Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse you were so kind enough to test for us?

Thanks,

Billionton wouldn't give them to me. Sager said they would hunt them down for me, but I haven't heard anything from them yet.

I just got my MS bluetooth kb/mouse in today, so I hope the drivers get here quick. I don't want to futz around with the dongle.

If you're anybody is interested, I suggest firing off an email to Sager to request an updated bluetooth driver. One person asking just sounds like a whacko. But if multiple people show interest it might happen quicker.

this may be a stupid question, but i've always wondered what would happen if someone, also with a bluetooth powered mouse, could inadvertently take over your mouse cursor if within the 30 foot range at the coffee shop....

That is possible with traditional wireless mice, especially the earlier ones. The latter ones use a simple form of encryption.

The bluetooth devices use a much better level of encryption, so I don't think things like that will happen. Unless the encryption proves to be very easy to break, like WEP.

It's trivially breakable. The only hard bit about it is finding the sequence used to do the frequency-hopping.

Check out shmoo's research in this area (Bruce Potter in particular), as well as the L0pht's ...errr, @Stake's RedFang toolkit.

I want one of these bluetooth keyboards when they are released.\
http://www.flexis.co.kr/web/fxcubebt.htm

no reply from me e-mail to them - not sure if they are released on the market yet or not.

I just ordered a bluetooth 56k modem and a few bluetooth dongles to set up a wireless network with my son's computer and my laptop in the house.

my question is, will it be possible to have the network, modem, keyboard and mouse all operating off the one dongle in my laptop?

And how will this go when I fianlly get an 8890, will I be able to hotswap the peipherals from one laptop to the other, or would I have to buy 2 keyboards and mice that are bluetooth ?

Apple just released a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse today.

No word yet on what profile they require to operate.

well I ordered my 5680 without BT just because I read that it wouldn't work with the MS BT mouse . Now that I see that there might be a possibility that we could still use it (please keep this thread informed) I was wondering if I could get the BT internal adapter and install it myself? Just curious as to what this thing looks like also?

Thanks

I sent them an email and have heard nothing. I think that without the mouse support it is relatively useless and a waste of money. We could have been told!

Agree, I just got my 4760 and while I didnt get the bluetooth installed I thought later I should have.

Then I spent a week trying to get my BT mouse and nokia 3650 to work and it didnt. IR works fine for the phone and the regular wireless mouse works great. No need for the BT option yet as far as I can see. but how nice would it be to have it all!!!!

I got mine with BT knowing that mouse will not work... I'm banking on the 1.4 driver for my $50 upgrade.

I'm going to order and install BT myself then wait for the hardware/software catch up

Just just got an email from Sager tech support telling me to check their website tomorrow for updates bluetooth drivers.

I got the MS BT keyboard/mouse combo. The mouse is okay, it has a good feel. It's a bit on the large side and definitely not an ambidextrious device. I've always been partial to Logitech keyboards and mice, but I really wanted bluetooth input devices right away and couldn't wait any longer for them to release something.

Like I was saying, the mouse looks and feels fine, but the keyboard is a horror story. They've done away with the traditional F-key groupings of 4 keys per group to 3 keys per grouping.

So, it goes: F1-F2-F3 F4-F5-F6 F7-F8-F9 F10-F11-F12

But even worse, they've messed with the group of keys above the inverted-T. They got rid of the insert; made it 3 rows by two colums; and made the delete key doule high.

The insert key is the bane of my existence.

The HID profile necessary for devices like the MS BT mouse/keyboard to work, since they require the HID profile.

other devices (I.e., those that use the 10-15 or so profiles already implemented in the existing Bluetooth module) work just fine.

Sager Tech Support Just Called and There will be a version of the Mini-USB Bluetooth Driver on the Website tomorrow. While this is not new news the version is NOT 1.4 it is 1.3.2.9 Those shipped with the Computer were 1.3.2.7 and did not work with the MS Mouse. It will be posted for the 8890 first then for the 4060, they are the same card.

I have v1.3.2.7 that came preinstalled. 1.29 would be step backwards. Unless they meant to say 1.3.2.9. But from what I heard from Billionton, v1.4 is required for HID. Whatver they release tomorrow, I hope it has HID support.

Sigh.
