Buying a labtop tomorrow need help!

Hey guys , I am buying a refurbished laptop for school purposes I want to get the best "bang for buck".

Here are my choices:

1. Presario 900 1.47GHZ Athlon-M, 256MB, 30GB, CDRW/DVD, Windows XP HOME, 15" TFT, 56K, NIC,

From what I can gather this model also has Infarred and Firewire conections.

I have to ask about the warrenty.

2. Compaq N1015v Athlon 1.53, 256MB, 30 GB, DVD/CDRW, 14 TFT, Windows XP PRo. 14" TFT, 56k , NIC

On this model the RAm is expandible to 1024mb, and from what I have read I can get a wireless card intergrated.

Also I am getting a 2 year warrenty with this one.

Does anybody have any experiance with these two machines??

I know that these are not the greatest labtops, personally I like the Sony or Toshiba but this is for school and I am getting a good price. So those are my choices.

Any help would be really appreciated

I personally dont like HP/Compaq laptops but if those are the best choices that you can come up with then I would go with the one with the 15" screen...even the 15" of my 5660 is too small for my needs but I can live with it...14" is just too small...

but I must repeat...I dont like HP and Compaq systems...are you sure there is nothing else you can get? like a Dell or Toshiba??

LOL ya I seem to always spell it that way, its programed in my typing fingers.

Well for the money these are my two choices, I really dislike compaq but ...

I am getting the presario for $800 or the EVO for $700,

the Toshiba was for $925 refurbished 1905-S277
After that it is A10-S127 and that is $999

So it would have to be definetly worth it to jump up to about $1k

Thanks for the info

I know for a fact that hp/compaq laptops are cheap, maybe in quality but definetely in price

recently they were selling customizable new 2100z (i think that's the model) for around $700 after $100 rebate. They were Athlon-Xp 2400 with 15" LCDs and 256 ram and 40g hd. Might want to check that out, I think there's a 10% off coupon 'floating' around too hehe

I want a lobtap, though I am not sure what it is. Perhaps a lobster filled with beer. Or maybe its a new form of interfact, a "lobe tap" for accessing those higher functions.

Oh, about those laptops, why are you asking Sagerites such a question, its like asking the Zen Master which Protestant denomination you should join. Go ask the pope or Oral Roberts.

you are getting ripped either way. I wouldnt pay what you are paying for a new model of one of those computers.
