Looking into getting an iXPS 2 or i9300

Hey all, new to the forums. Just recently we got an Inspiron XPS gen 1 for my work and it seriously kicks major butt expically in AutoCad, I use it all the time now since on one ever used it when we boughg it. It has the 3.4ghz Extreme Edition CPU, 1gb of ram, 60gb 7200rpm drive, and the 9800 pro. Ever since I started using it I have been wanting a laptop really bad and the new iXPS 2 and i9300 look really good.... although I do prefer the styling of the 9300 over the XPS 2. I'm going to be selling my Axim X50v to put the money towards one of these beauties to buy this summer. Now for some questions!

I know that alot of processors are going to be 32/64 bit and neither the iXPS or i9300 offer the 64bits yet. Does anyone know if Intel is going to offer the Pentium M's in a 64 bit edition? I know AMD just released a mobile 64bit processor so i'm going to assume Intel is in the works for one... and when and if Intel offers the Pentium M in 64 bit Dell will more then likely offer it (it's offered in the new desktops)

Whats the exact differece between the iXPS and i9300? I do know that the iXPS offers the 6800go Ultra.... But what I am not sure of is, is the Ultra a 16 pipeline card? What are the major differences between the two video cards/notebooks.

And finally, how long is a Dell model out before it gets replaced with a newer model?

Also what is the max resolution on the iXPS and i9300 with the TrueLife screen? My XPS has a resolution of 1920x1600 but when it comes to gaming that resolution is sort of too much. Gaming at max resolutions is the best because everything is not blurry.

Thanks alot

Ultra is a 12 pipe card with faster memory/gpu.

There is no mobile Intel coming out soon (next year and half) that is 64 bit as of now.

Model usually last around 1 year or so.

Same max resolution provided you get the WUXGA.

Is the ultra the exact same card in the 9300, just overclocked?

300 dollars, this week that is.

plus it gets almost double frame rates in gaming. will prob. heat up more. xps2 will look a little more cooler but less proffesional. but to each his own. theres a TON of info on the differences between the 2 on these forums, search around. i believe on dell's site there is an interactive comparison on these 2 notebooks.

They have different memory. Some people speculate that they are different die sizes as well.

GDDR1 vs GDDR3 (290/590) vs (450/1100)

There is a thread showing an overclocked 6800go, clcoked up to 401/680ish and that increases it's score in 3dmark05 by ~1000 points! So if you cant afford the XPS2 but want a strong graphic card, the 6800go is still a bad@S$ @ clock speeds, but even more of a speed demon while oc'd

GDDR 3 memory

Maybe the XPS 2 is a better option, since I love playing PC games, Hopefully by summer they will have faster processors out!

Are the 6800go's GPU's the same as in the desktop. If not does anyone know if they feature Shader Model 3.0?

I think they both feature Shader Model 3.0

Well it looks like i'll save up for the iXPS.

Does anyone know how long it takes for credit to build up? My dad recently cosigned on my BMW we bought for $14,000, I have made 5 payments on it @ $250, and I have a credit card that I use with a $200 (I know it's low). I want to be able to qualify for dell card so I can pay off the laptop and get credit also...... I'm just starting to build my credit as you can tell. Even If I qualified for credit I don't think I could get $2,500 for the XPS 2
