I need to hear some good news...

It seems to me that a good portion of this board is dedicated to people not satisfied with their purchase and/or support from Alienware. I recently purchased a MJ-12m 7700 and I can't wait for it to arrive. I realize that it's human nature for the people not satisfied to be more vocal than the happy people, but I must say, reading these boards is starting to scare me a little bit. I need something to boost my confidence so lets have a thread where people can tell their success stories with Alienware. I would especially like to hear from those using them for business purposes.

Let the positive responses start in 3.......2........1........ GO!!

I understand how you feel. After I orded my AW I got the same nervous feeling reading through the boards. Well I got my computer this weekend and I have to say I am completely satisfied. Everything works the way I would expect it to (or better), and I haven't encountered even the slightest problem. A+ for Alienware!!

AW is A-OK in my book, they have great CS support here on the boards as well, plus the forum in general is full of people w/ great experiences w/ AW...keep in mind there is no pc manufacturer w. a flawless reputation. and welcome to the forums and the phase game

I've had mine for almost a month now, and no major issues. It has crashed once during a session of FarCry, but only once, so I'm not concerned, anyways, I was trying to get the cheats to work on v1.31, so I deserved it.

I have had my 7700 for abt 10 weeks...no dead pix, no issues with anything other than all my collegues want to play with it...seriously, AW sells thouslands of these and so a few people come here to vent or are Dell trolls trying to cause issues but if you go back 4-6 weeks and read all the posts abt very satisified AW 7700 owners then you will have nothing to fear...think Dell or others do not have issues? read this......
http://www.broadbandreports.com/foru...5563~mode=flat

or try this for Dell also.....

point being..there will be people that, for whatever reason, are just not happy...read where Dell laptops are made in Malysia..well AW is assembled in the US..Fla to be exact and that does not mean that Malysia makes crap but at least you can count on your AW product being "built" in the US..it may have parts made in other countries but it is assembled here..and this is not a Dell slam..I do not like Dell personally but it is a free country and we choose what we can afford and like for our personal reasons but form your own opinion based upon YOUR purchase and not what someone else bought and possibly did who knows what to and then wants the manfact to make it right again..I bet some..some of these complaints are just half the REAL story..I love my 7700 and recommend it to anyone who wants a top of the line rig..plain and simple

My thoughts exactly, this baby does what I want it to do, and more, its nice to be able to rework photos without having to kill all apps but photoshop....(photo editing was my main reason for the purchase, plus I wanted the power of a desktop in a portable, and the 7700 fits this perfectly.

As far as opinions go, I have nothing but good things to say about AW Sales, Customer Service and Tech-support. I have had issues, mostly user-created and mostly user-fixed. And when I hav needed to call tech-support, they've been great.

See my review in the review section for more details and other good user experiences.

lotsa luck and good wishes

I'm a four time customer (systems, I've upgraded through them many times too), but I don't have a laptop... yet. I do have a 5500m loaner right now that Alienware loaned me while recovering from major surgery recently, and it's pretty amazing. Most stable laptop I've ever used. I had abdominal surgery, so I was having difficulty sitting at my desk. I mentioned it in a conversation on their forums, someone at AW saw it, and they contacted my wife to arrange the loaner.

I think this says something about the way they treat their customers even though they're getting bigger every day.

Another customer I know had his house broken into, and his computers were stolen. He had a 5500m taken. It was his principle computer, and he's in engineering school so he needed a replacemet pronto. He contacted Customer Service, and they did everything they could to get him a replacement for school, I think they were able to ship in less than a week due to his circumstance. He says he's a customer for life, and he's about to buy a desktop from Alienware.

The last I heard, Alienware was processing 6000 orders a month, so even though you can find people here that are having issues, the number is really quite small. That doesn't make it any less frustrating for those that do have issues, but from what I see on their forums, they do everything they can to resolve any customer's issues. It's unfortunate, but any computer manufacturer will have some computers that have hardware failure or damage in shipping, so it's important to know that if you do have issues, the company will stand behind their product. I've had very few issues, but judging by what I read on Alienware's own forums, most people are happy with the support they receive when they need it. I've seen many angry customers turned into repeat customers.

I would agree that some of the stories told here are concerning, but you probably shouldn't believe everything you read on the net. I've dealt with several people with horror stories about their experience with Alienware, but after asking them a few pointed questions it sometimes becomes obvious they've never owned one. You should take glowing praise with a grain of salt also I suppose...

All I can really confirm is my own experience with Alienware, and it's not been perfect, but it's been the best computer company I've ever dealt with by far. My desktops have all been exceptional, especially this last one. Fast and stable. And I'm confident after being on their forums for years, that they stick with those that have issues until they're satisfied with the resolution.

The only problem I've experienced that I see mentioned regularly, is that they could improve on communications. I advise people to try to talk to the same person when they call to check on progress or repairs, seems to help when trying to get consistent updates...

As I said, I've never owned an AW laptop though. The laptops are quite a bit different than the desktops. I hope your purchase works out because I'll be ordering a 7700 here soon.

Having read tons of stories, hammerhead hit the nail on the head (no pun intended). The communication/financial part of alienware is where all the horror stories are. Its not in the actual product, and it never has been. If alienware can clean up the communication and stop giving off the impression that they are "penny pinching" with restocking fees and arguments over warrantied parts they will have another customer AKA the Commish and many more. Id be willing to be that in 2-3 years they will probably figure it out and end up an even better company.

This is my point..this guy does NOT have an AW but feels he can comment about AW policies..something he knows nothing about. Why don't you go to the Dell area and comment about their law suits for financial practices?'''I see that you have not done that..wonder why? As for the re-stock fee..it is known up front, not a hidden issue so if that is your reason not to buy an AW, then so be it. I never gave it a second thought.

The thread was asking for comments from AW owners and not Dell trolls

Made in the USA?

Sooo Clevo is working out of Miami now? You really need to do some research. It's the same laptop that many other boutique resellers offer.

Why doesn't anyone get this? http://www.clevo.com.tw/products/D900T.asp
Look familiar? Hello?

geez....
I'm not seeing where you can actually buy from that site...

Clevo

Unfortunately Clevo only sells to resellers like Sager and Alienware.

If you could buy direct I would have purchased a bare-bones system and built it up myself. Why pay someone else to install memory and a hard drive?

Don't have my AW yet, but customer service has been great to work with. I got nervous, too, but the more I've checked out this forum and seeing the way AW treats its customers convinced me that this is going to the best computer I've ever owned. The hardest part is the waiting - but I know it's worth the anxiety! Besides AW owners seem to be a cool bunch of people.

not one single problem w/ my lappy, tho customer service does suck....
Never had a problem with the laptops and the 1 desktop I've owned. Plus my brother has a desktop and he's never had a problem with it either. Unfortunatly you'll have problems with any computer you buy. I've never had problems with any Dells I've had either

I ordered one a couple of days ago. The sales rep was named Mario, and was way cool. Ordering was easy, and the follow-up email to the order was revealing. It gets into a good level of detail and stipulates exactly how the system is to be configured.

Also, to be honest, the way these forums are run speaks well for AW. Craig and Aurora are in effect spokespersons for AW, and their conduct reflects well on the company. For one thing, they are pretty light handed in dealing with what in many cases are obvious trolls. I can think of other PC maker forums where anything negative is censored, not here. The last time a thread got deleted was because it was giving directions for comitting a felony.

When a company is unafraid to hear everything people say, that company shows character.

Omg!!!!

Ordered the MJ-12m on Thursday March 10th... Was stuck on phase 1 until Monday, March 14th.. Checked earlier today and I was at phase 4... now I just checked again and I'm on phase 9!!!

I hope it's not just a glitch in the system.. At this rate they may actually ship early! Original estimated ship date was the 24th.
