9300 came today with faulty screen

I was excited to get my 9300 (with WXGA+) until I noticed right away upon boot up that the bottom 1-2" is glowing. I've been trying to convince myself to live with it because returning crap is such a hassle, but I just can't.
Exactly how much light bleed or whatever you call it is acceptable? Is this type of defect common?
The matte type finish does make things look grainy. I like the resolution, but not the graininess. Maybe I'll return it for the glossy UXGA screen---if I can live with micro characters...

Wow, yours is the first report for the WXGA+. Can you determine who makes the LCD? Tell us the part number on your packing slip for the LCD, please.

What a bummer? Can you take a picture of it.

Update: I'm noticing more bleed along in 2 spots right below the top edge. They're both oval shaped, but not as bright as the bleed along the bottom. I have the "stars" screen saver on and it looks like crap.
How do I find out who makes the LCD?
Part number: W5411
W5411 is made by Samsung. Everybody (9200 owners) loves it, but there have been several reports of light leakage. Call Dell and ask them to send you a new one. Bummer.

If your not happy with the screen send it back. Yes, it is a hassle, but make sure your happy with your purchase. One thing good about Dell is there satisfaction guarantee.

Thats enough to ruin your day, if it was me I would send it back and order another one.
WHY have a testing stage if they can't notice this stuff before shipping?

How is the sound.........
how is the speed.......
how is the wireless card........name your card?
how is the weight........
how does the keyboard feel.......
how does the design look........

I suggest you send back the WHOLE THING, not just the screen. Look what HotStuff2 has been going through -- every replacement screen they have sent him has been a refurb.

seems like even the wuxga may have the same issue if not less........

They can not show the screen as new if they do something to it like test it or any thing else. They must show it as a refurb even all they did was test it.

So what exactly is the sparkling thing everyone is talking about?
Wow, screen concerns with the 9200, and 9300.

The refurbished should be as good as the original, if not return until they get it right.
Despotes, I just wanna make sure that you are talking about the LCD display without Truelife. Cause I don't remember people having problems with that screen in the 9200. People complained alot about the upgraded display in the 9200, not the WXGA though.

And do you have to ship it back before they send a replacement unit?

I have the WXGA screen. It is very sharp, but the anti-gloss finish does have some sparkle effect/graininess to it though.

I dunno if mine is the Samsung, but maybe it is, because it's fantastic. Clear, easy to read, from many angles, and it does well in sunlight.

Despotes, sorry to hear about that. Hope everything gets figured out soon and that it wouldn't change your mind about getting an i9300 because it is a very good computer. Keep us updated.

Ya, I agree. Get the job done and return it. With screen exchanges you might end up wishing you could return it, but then you might be outside 30 days. That would really suck. I guess if you have complete care, you could run over it.

*gulp* Now, I'm nervous.
Send it back and make them hook you up with some freebies for the hassle...
