9300 owners: tell us about your WUXGA - Page 6

I am trying to get latest nvidia drivers for 9300 - but I think the ones on nvidia website are only for desktops.

Probably because I am jagged! But try setting your DPI to 96. Dell changes the DPI setting for WUXGA, and it makes IE render images with a bunch of aliasing.

Folks - I looked really close to the screen. The sparkle actually seems to be coming from what looks like a coating on a screen - with some portions being brighter than the others. Maybe just a deception of my eyes.. but that's what it seems like.

Dellbert- I changed the setting to 96dpi from 120 dpi. The text seems much better now. All graphics are also smaller sized now and look more natural , so now the jaggedness is gone from images.

Still thinking whether I should keep 'sparky' or fire it.

Well, I'm happy that I'm no longer jagged, but what you're saying about the LCD makes me sad. Sniff.

Told ya that screen was CRAP!
Oh c'mon! You know you just calming yourself down! You KNOW that screen is CRAP!

ankurg, let me confirm, the sparkliness is only seen on white backgrounds correct? Also, how bad does it affect the readability of the display. I'm concerned because you stated that dellbert's picture looked white except the head.

Very very very sad.

Hi. First time poster here. I too am typing from my 9300 which I got yesterday. My screen part number is K9922 and the description says it's a Samsung.

It does have a slight "sparkle". It looks like a dusty CRT screen. It's only noticeable on light backgrounds and it is not too pronounced.

The brightness is good, but the richness of the colors is lacking a little, at least when compared to my basic desktop Samsung 710n monitor. Compared to my wife's T42, it looks much better.

Mine has some backlight leakage, and just like someone mentioned, it's especially noticeable on the bottom portion of the screen. There is some on the sides too. You can seen this on really dark (almost black) backgrounds.

Damn it. Both of you guys are describing the 9200 panels exactly. Dell pulled a fast one, and they simply glossed over the old panels.

I was right that they learned a lesson from the 9200 returns, but they applied that lesson wrongly. Somebody should be fired at Dell. Damn it, everybody should be fired at Dell.

dang, I wonder if the xpsGen2 will have the same screen? Only time will tell. This could definitely push me away from the xps2.

Hey guys comeon, why dont we all wait until we get our own 9300/XPS2 THEN judge the screen!
LoL - XPS is also truebrite (or whatever) no?

Readability is fine. But anything on white (including DVDs show the sparkle). I guess I am waiting to see if I can adjust to the screen, because it is functional and very nice if there is color.

Im getting mine tomorrow and I am really shocked already
If it does have leakage, I am definitely going to return and complain. Come on, this laptop is over 2000$+. I expect things to BE what I payed for.

I agree...only a few people have actually received their 9300's and their complaints aren't nearly as pronounced as some of the ones by people who haven't even looked the screen yet...Keep an open mind and who knows? You may be surprised...

Has anyone seen Shinji U around? We should ask what screen he got because he was the first one to say that the Truelife screen is really close to Sony's Xbrite.

Shinji is probably having too much fun on his right now...

man, at first I was only worried about getting a few bad pixels again (like I saw on my first Alienware 7700)... now you guys got me worried about the whole screen looking bad.

If these LCDs are not any good... isn't there anyway we can just buy the best displays we want (like Sony) and simply replace it?
