Thanks, Gerry. Wow, this is a close race. So far, we have 2 lovers, 1 tolerater, and 1 hater for each display!

Is there also a chance that my packing list says that I have a J9662, but my computer shows up with a different display?

I do notice that with large fonts (120% scaling I think) graphics can be a little jagged (like visit www.dell.com). With normal DPI it is fine.

I ran powerstrip and this is what I got:
True Color 32bit 1900x1200
Memory: 590mhz - Engine 290mhz
Model: SEC5557
Capabilities: 1600x1200

It is interesting to note that powerstrip reports 1600x1200 as max resolution.

Gerryh... do you have much expirence with LCD's??? No harm meant, but I was trying to see if there is a corolation between the two.

With Dell, ANYTHING is possible. That's why everybody should run PowerStrip when they get their machines. So far, the part numbers correlate perfectly with different makers.

Stryprod--I've been using laptops for around 10 years now. Mainly all Dells. i've had a range of screens (800x600 non-TFT screens, etc.) to screens with a few bad pixels to spotless UXGA and WUXGA screens, etc. So I'm not a novice if that is what you're asking. However, I'm not a gamer and probably not super picky as some of you are.

No, thats perfect and I trust your judgment and thanks for the response... I wasnt trying to imply anything, just trying to see what to expect. Thanks again!

see guys all this worrying about if you would get a good screen or not, it madness, i personally can't see any sparkle from the pics (granted that could jsut be the camera), but a few people who have theirs like it alot. I just think a few people have much higher expectations then others. from what i've read, unless you're reading everything 2 inches from the screen and know that no lcd is perfect, it's seems to me these screens will be quite nice.

Ahhhhh, but its fun to worry and have mob justice!

i feel that if you like your screen then its all good , and if you dont dell should let you choose the screen you want .......we the ones paying for it am i right.......plus if we have on-site , a tech should have all the different screens that go for the 9300... and should be able to change it with no problem.....so can this be done........next i know everyone is gonna say that all of us and other people are gonna want to do this, thats not true some guys in here like there screen the way it is, and dont need to change it , while others just dont like it.........so those who dont like it should be able with on-site get a tech and change it to the model you want .......if not get your money back.....so can this be done.........if it can dell gets a thumbs up and if it cant well dell will get the middle finger from alot of customers ......thanks

To all those with 'jagged' text - is ClearType enabled or disabled on your machines?
