9300 owners: tell us about your WUXGA - Page 14

Just got mine.
I'm at work and won't have a lot of time...but screen looks fine to me...but then again I didn't get the upgrade.
There is alot of crap on these things...sheesh.
I've got to install my DSL software, first thing and then figure out my McAfee stuff. Seems to be on the computer but I didn't order it (b/c I already have an account)

Oh, c'mon man! Please try to describe the screen.
Is it glossy.
How much sparkling do you see.
How about viewing angles.
How about whites being really whites, and not greys.
How about overall text sharpness.
How about brightness? Try to watch some DVD ripped to avi and find a sex scene in the dark, or something like that, you gotta be able to recognize the faces easily.
Have you seen other laptops LCD's in the past? How is this one compared to those?
Please! Write some review to make all the paranoids here (including myself) feel better!
* If you have a WXGA+, which I assume you do - just simply owe it to the community to write a review, cause there isn't any yet.

Thank you!

Why? You don't think those questions I listed were reasonable for a review? Could you be more specific on what you mean please?

I'm sure LOUOLOGY1 is in school right now getting yelled at by his teacher for asking too many questions. Maybe he'll join us during recess.

I'm getting the J one, which is probably LG, and supposed to be CRAP!
But I still have some hope.
I mean its really hard for me to believe that Dell will pull that trick again after what happened to them with 9200s.
We'll see. Mine should arrive later today.

Hey guys. I have a Sony A-690 Coming in today, and I'll be posting some comparison shots of the XBRITE WUXGA vs. the Truelife WUXGA.

I'm also getting the LG Philips one, so they better have evolved since the 9200 days or I will go crazy. The whole reason i returned my first laptop from dell was because of screen issues.

So far, most of the comments about the 9300 LG have been positive, which is a huge change from the 9200 days. Almost nobody liked the 9200 LG, so clearly something has improved. My guess is that it's probably not wonderful, but not nearly as bad as the old LG.

BTW, I'm typing this on my 700m with glossy screen. If you look closely, you can see individual pixels, but there is absolutely no "sparkle" or orther artifacts on the display. No sign of an anti-glare coating underneath the glossy finish. And that's as it should be.

Wait a sec, aren't you getting your 9300 with "j"/LG screen today as well?

I'm getting the WXGA+ version of the LG and I'm still holding out hope as well. After reading MANY reviews here, it seems like one of the biggest problems for both LG and Samsung may be quality control as I've been people both love and hate the exact same lcd panel.

I wish. Mine is still in the build stage, so I don't even know what I'm getting yet.
sheesh...didn't you see the part where I said I was AT WORK?
I can only pop in/out and only had 15 minutes to take a quick peek.
It may be a few days before I have time to really sit down with it. Hoping to at least get the DSL and wireless going this evening and hopefully some pics.
...and yeah, I'm a newbie so I don't really have anything to compare to...other than work laptops.

bbstls you have made me laugh harder than anyone or anything else. You have a gift for wry humor.

I think we should suggest Dell ship their newest machines with Truecrap tm from now on.

Too bad we don't have an online review sheet so forum members can quickly run through a checklist while reviewing their new notebooks.
