I beleive Lu gets his installed today, so we will hear for sure about this samsung. Also Lu, check out the model numbers of your old LG and your current samsung he's putting in if you get a chance =)
nah i get mines installed tomorrow the 22nd,but i may have to cancel and reschedule since i have to be away for a day or to, ill see if they can come on thur or fri. by the way ... if i dont like the samsung screen and it has the same whites , but less color then the LG , i will be telling the tech to put the screen back............can he do that? can he deny it and say all he came for was to replace the screen?... if he denys would i be able to call dell and make them tell the tech that i want my other screen back , or should i just pass over $20 bucks and say listen i know you take pride in your job , but please take your time ,dont scractch my laptop , and if the new screen is worse , can you put it back..........another thing how much does it take for a tech to replace a screen... if its fast ... i doubt he will deny puting it back........i just would like to know if the samsung has better white , with the same colors......again i had to change the brightness and contrast to 84... we shouldnt have to do that.......i lost alot of brightness by doing that even tho the white looks slight better , am losing the brightness which is valueable....now if i was to put both at 100 like dell send it, you can really notice the difference with the whites...thanks

i tried turning down the brightness and contrast to 84 and it made the sparkle more apparent for me. it was a huge difference in brightness when you turned it down to 84, so even if it did have less sparkle i would not want to keep it at that low brightness. it just kind of masks the problem because the screen is so dark you can't see anything even the sparkle. i guess nobody was getting their screened replaced afterall =( one more day or so to find out the final verdict on the samsung replacement screens...

Hope you guys can make a fair comparison. doesn't look anything like dellberts sparklies.

Link doesn't seem to be working.

I'd keep your $20, Lu. Just ask the guy to please be carefull in a respectful way. You're in a different situation than me in terms of what you want to do in case the new one is not better than your current one. I will simply tell the dude thank you, then call Dell for an RMA and pack up the computer and send it back. In your case, I'd just simply tell the guy that the one he put in is worse than the one he took out and ask him to replace it. If he balks be insistent. It should be no big deal. I wonder if I can just give the technician the computer and package for RMA and save on shipping. Probably not. I will be arguing against paying shipping charges back on the grounds of the screen defect and their failure to correct it, too.

thanks, but i heard storys before how techs be leaving equiment scrached, screws all messed up, wires disconnected...ect. Yea hopefully he will be good enough to swap back the LCD. Maybe my eyes will bleed and pop out and maybe dell would start using sony screens......like i said if the samsung does not have the same colors and same sharpness of the LG i guess ill see what dell has to say about the situation. either way this laptop is gonna be passed down in a couple of months and my brother already said nice screen, until i showed him the whites... he was like ahh i see, but hey i guess we dont wanna feel taken for fools when it comes to a good amount of money. i guess your RMA yours since you have other options. I really dont until sager or alienware release there next laptops which are based on sonoma. Guess we gotta wait and see

I finally took my i9300 to lab today and I can say that I am glad I called for a replacement. The fluoresent tube lighting in our labs makes the whites look really dirty and sparky. Its almost like someone used a wetnap and wiped it across the display so it makes it display rainbow colors. It looks ok with regular lighting at home though. Weird.
its not an image, just dont have a background picture and put in that solid green bright color.

Now that the link works, it's too small to see anything! I can host it for you later on this evening when I get home from work. No size limit.
