A thread for those stuck in production...

I am here with you guys. My order has been in the same stage since I began checking my order. It is in the build stage and is showing no signs of moving. Maybe my build team had a couple days off...maybe I got the build team full of the new guys that don't know how to build it. Whatever the case, this is actually making me kinda angry knowing that I ordered on the 7th and people who have ordered after me have already had their's ship! Mine hasn't even begun testing yet-WTF??? Anybody else with similar problems, please post here.

I feel you, mate...

I ordered one day after you, and my order is still stuck in the build stage just like yours...

I'm in the boat with you guys. I emailed Dell yesterday and this is what I got back.

Thank you for contacting Dell's Online Customer Service for our Small and Medium Business customers.

As per my understanding you would like to know the status of your order number XXXXXXXXX - dated 03-08-05 placed for Inspiron 9300 system.

I show that production is delayed for your order due to item on backordered.

I assure you that this is not typical of the quality experience Dell is capable of providing. I trust that our future service opportunities will result in nothing less than your complete satisfaction.

Please contact our sales department at: 1-800-456-3355 extension 7261843 and the next available representative should be able to provide available options to expedite the order process and also provide information on the item that is causing delay in processing your order.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

We value you as a Dell customer and your satisfaction is important to us.

Thank you for choosing Dell.

So I read this and I'm bummed.

I look at my next email and it is also from Dell.

Thank you for the courtesy of your order !

Kindly understand the order number xxxxxxxxx and the customer number
xxxxxxx is in production and estimate to ship on or before the 03/21/05.

If you have further queries, please feel free to mail us at:

Regards,

So now I'm really confused.

So I just call them, which is what I should have done in the first place.

The CS rep tells me that both emails are true. He said that Dell did have parts backorded for the i9300, but they arrived the next day or something like that so the order is back on track now and he said it should still ship on the date listed. So I'll give it a day and see if they change the status.

So it is possible we were all affected by the parts shortage and hopefully should be back on track.

Parts shortage, thats some b.s. They should say that there is a possible delay on any particualr item like they did with the screen... whats that e-mail address, I wanna write them and see what response I get. As I highly doubt it takes 4 busniess days to build a comp, takes me 2 hours if that. Plus those malaysians child laborers have little hands, so it should be even faster!

I've been on the build stage since 3/8 and still the same status by phone or online. Very frustrating. I doubt they will make the 3/21 delivery as they promised.

I used a link off one of the pages to fill out a form. Sorry I don't remeber which page.

Worse wait with XPS

I'm stuck in Pre-Production with my XPSG2. I wonder if Clevo will come out with the Ultra before I get the XPS. If so, I will be faced with the current dilemma of which to choose. Right now, the XPS2 is the one to get, but that could change for me if I see a D900 with the Ultra before I get the Dell. BTW, what is the Dell return policy? Is there a restocking fee on Small Business orders?

Mine has been stuck in the build stage since 03/09.. that's 6 days... I don't know what the hell is going on... others who ordered on the same day (03/08) after me have had their laptops already shipped... and I didn't even order the bluetooth module or a different processor.. wtf?!

Can you give me their e-mail address, dont have time to find it as I need to look like I am working... thanks!

P.s. for those still in build, looks like a lot of you guys got 1.6ghz cpu's like me, perhaps thats the holdup
post #13 of 29

I'm not really stuck...yet. But I do have a question. I ordered my i6000d yesterday around noon and now it just went into testing stage (I checked on the automated order status on the phone). The estimated delivery date is March 28... Is it really going to take that long? I realize that Boxing takes a couple of days but Dell is saying it might take 6 or 7 if it goes into boxing today. Also, how long does the testing stage usually last?

Hey, I'm new to this forum (which I might add is awesome), but I'm in the same situation. I ordered a 6000d on 3/5 that was supposed to ship out today, 3/15, with an expected arrival of 3/18-3/22. It's been stuck In Production for days now, and I just got an email from Dell today saying the order was delayed and now it won't ship out until on or before 3/22. So I guess I'm looking at an arrival date of 3/25-3/29...almost a month after I ordered it!

I think this frustrated college kid is gonna give Dell a phone call and/or email later tonight

Edit: I didn't have any problems at all three years ago when I ordered my Dimension 8200...it even arrived 3 days early. oh well

I used the email address in the order acknowledgement: SMB_OnlineOrder_Resolution@dell.com

it is pretty useless though, they just send out canned responses. I emailed them asking why it has just been sitting there for days. they tell me that it is in the build stage (duh) and it will be shipped when it is done (duh). so i sent another email asking if there was some delay, then what was it for. i mean i understand if there is one, it happens, but i just want to know what is the hold up. so they send me another canned response about how the shipping dates are just estimates, and it will be shipped when its ready... great, I already knew this, thanks for nothing...
