Using the Fn+F10, the fans will stay on constantly until you either reboot, turn off the machine, or use the Fn+F10 to turn them off.

Mobmeter, and most other appliances, can not "see" the RAID configured ATA drives and therefore can not provide and temperature readings. It works well with non-raided ATA configurations and will report the temps.

pb, Turn on the Fn+F10 for a minute or so and then turn them off (Fn+F10 again). Then see when the fans will turn off. Mine turn off at 36C - or about there, I really didn't pay close attention.

I turned nearly everything off that runs in the background using msconfig ( that I didn't need running) and the laptop booted up at 50 C, then the fans ran until it dropped to 41 C this morning. The house is cool this morning at 22 C. Does anyone else here have a Prescott cpu to compare temps too?
I plan on loading the cpu tonight, to get it toasty, then let it cool to see where it sits at idle after warming up.
Do they make a watercooler for laptops?

Nobody else got temps on their system?

OK... I have 2 sets of temperatures... one before RMA one after RMA. Ok before RMA idle 45 - 48C.... intense gaming 60+.

After RMA... idle 37 - 40C, but the fans never shut off... intense gaming 60+... no effect on gaming...

I sent my unit back for repairs because of massive artifacting. The moment i got it back the lcd backlight would not work for about 5 boots... then it worked... but then the second i played any game I would get massive artifacting except in Counter-Strike: Source.... but while playing CS:S the whole unit would lock up after about 20 minutes... so ok the temps were better... but the unit as a whole was a piece of crap... so it is being sent back again..

I was reading through this thread because I recently experienced an overheating issue. Mine turned out to be dirt buildup on the heatsink. Cleaned it out for the first time in the life of the machine and all is now fine.

I usually run max fans (Fn F10) all the time. Idle temps had gotten to over 40c with max fans running. After cleaning with max fans, idle temp is 25-29.

Fans in normal mode, temp will slowly get up to 43 to 49, fans start on low speed and drop temp to 36 then go off. This cycle will repeat as long as machine idles.

Again, I almost always run mine in max fan mode and perched. I perch the back of the machine 2 inches. Perching makes typing easier and increases airflow. Normal working temps are 32 to 38 on max fans and 46 to 50 on normal fans. I have worked it hard while overclocked at 500-299 and got the temp up to 63 while on max fan. I have seen higher temps, but only when heatsink was clogged with dust.

I have a Prescott in mine and the fans go on at 50 deg C, then it cools it down to 40C and they turn off. then the temp goes back up to 49 C and they turn on again and back down to 40C. It just keeps doing this, but my fn+f10 key for fans doest work at all. I get a "beep" but thats it. tried doing it like G-Omaha indicated ( holding down the fn then pushing the f10 key) but still nothing. I wonder if it is a Prescott machine thing?
If anyone calls Sager and asks, please post it here.

i got a 3.2 prescott
avg temps are 46-48 idle

51 max when surfing net, wordprocessing

fans never turn off, cept when i have the window open and the temp drops to like 35

i also got the lapcool2 underneath it... so that helps cool down the overall laptop alot, HDDs especially (two of em)

Thats about the same range that mine idles at with the Prescott. My fans are always on also, just low, until I run an application or game that gets the temp up to around 50-51C then the fans go on high speed.

My fn+f10 still doesn't work. I redid the biosagain to the new one, and still nothing. Does your Prescott system turn the fans on in high mode when you press the fn+f10 combination, Mattszeto?

yes, yes it does, i got mine back in... june and i have the updated bios,
but it always maxfan-ed at Fn+F10, even from the box

i idle at 49-51 gaming from 64-68 i rarely use max fan and have no cooler. i raise the back end about the thickness of the king james version of the bible(maybe its a gideon's). room temp varies but the lappy stays consistant. i would like to run cooler but we will see as i dont want to take the plate under the keyboard off and am unable to rma for a while. we will see how this goes..........i am also afraid of rmaing without a failure as there may be more problems when it is returned.

I am not sure why mine, even after the bios update and confirmation of it, that the fn+f10 does not do anything. The other FN keys work, that I know of.
Only time mine sees 38C is when it has been in sleep mode for 1 hr and I just turn it on!
