just to give you guys something to look forward to, the UXGA screen is UNBELIEVABLE. its sooo much better than i could have possibly imagined. i put some deviant art wallpapers up and O-M-G. the screen seems almost irridescent with some of them. so awesome. beyond awesome.

Yep, I can second that. And having spent all my free time today playing Homeworld 2 and Rise of Nations, I can say this display is absolutely STUNNING.

(got a 5680-V with an extra power supply, 1GB of RAM, 60GB 7200 and 80GB 5400RPM HDs, Bluetooth, 802.11b, UXGA, and the CD-R).

Since I've got to open it up anyway to hunt down a noisy fan, I'm going to see what the possibilities are for changing some of the LEDs from green to blue (they're all green at the moment).

I was also considering red vinyl dye to change the color of the case, until I realized it was painted silver, and that'd require a lot of sanding I just don't have the attention span for.

torture...i cant handle it with my old 5650 i only had the standard screen there was an option for the UXGA but at the time [1yr &2months] ago i didnt know the differnce except for the higher resoultion.. so i didnt spring 90$ to go for it... so when i get my 5680 which i orded the 15th it is gonna be extra super special to me cause it has a UXGA screen....I just wanna touch it

hmm looks like someone got fresh

with a box of crayons and they rebelled lol. I got the sxga screen just because I dont have time to do as much gaming as I would like. Of course? That wont stop me from trying war craft 3 and elite forces 2 as soon as i get the os installed. There are priorities lol

Let me know what you find out about switching the LEDs. That would be cool to change. As for the fan, was it noisy from the beginning or did it start up after awhile?

Actually, I never got to the LEDs. The fan has been noisy ever since I took it out of the box.

Go to clevo's ftp site (ftp.clevo.com.tw) and look in the directory called "SrvManuals" or something similar.

There's a directory for the 5600's. In there is a manual that lists the steps for getting down to the motherboard. At that point, the 5680 differs enough from the manual that I can't get past it.

cd /SRVMANUAL/5600P

bin

get 56_Series_Service_Manual.zip

...you can't see the SRVMANUAL directory via "dir". But it's there.
