The LG's have all these features (Sonoma/DDR2/SATA/X600 GPU/PCI express slot/HD sound)
Other features - instant DVD play (with PCI remote control) - light (3kg) good battery life (4hrs on standard battery, 6hrs with hi-cap option)

Not sure that the screen will be high enough res though for some - I find the 1440 x 900 perfect for me and there's an option for a 1660 (?) res but that's it..
It is a brilliant screen though - as good as the Toshiba/Sony glossy widescreens no probs :-)

Not sure it's available in the US though....

Well, I stand corrected then, although in my case I'm only interested in 17" WUXGA lappies

Mattboy posted more info regarding this laptop in the Dell Centrino forums including a nice pic of it: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?p=747383

Seems like my speculations were spot on regarding features, though I'm not completely sure about Azalia sound (though the S/PDIF might indicate that) it does have an ExpressCard slot

Being that the 9300 probably has an unacceptable LCD to me, I now need to determine a different notebook to buy.

My requirements in order of importance are:
17inch widescreen glossy LCD of good quality
WSXGA or WUXGA
Video card X700 128mb or greater performance-wise
2 hours + Battery life
Can't be extremely hot.
1.8 inches thick or less
must be able to change the batter without removing screws. (not any current Sagers)
must be able to change the harddrive without disassembling the whole notebook (not Sony)

Things I'm not as rigid on:
weight
general apperance
processor type

I think this pretty much rules out all currently available notebook. Oh, well, I'll keep hacking away on my Sony for a while. I've got my fingers crossed for a new AMD version from Sager soon.

If you have the $$$$ , you should check out the FS Series from sony.com

Here's the direct link to that other article with the pics, it looks very nice

The only thing I'm unsure of is whether it has the Azalia sound chip. Given that it does have S/PDIF out I would be surprised (and dissapointed) if it didn't have it....

I think I've found my next laptop.

assuming you can get it in the usa, or are you not in the usa? If you aren't and you can get it then well, good for you and, darn you!

Hopefully it'll come out in the states and not cost an arm and a leg.

There are a hell of a lot more than 2 people complaining about the 9300 screen.

Whatever you do don't get the zd8000 or the x6000, not to mention if you haven't ordered it is no longer with the x600.

Otherwise I have been waiting since Feb 11, and it got delayed to April 20th because of shortages. Don't go that way!!!

Plus a lot of bad feedback overall!

Plus the 64 bit intels are out and the x800 are cheaper now!

I vote for fuitsu m4438, the dell 9300 killer with a great screen

Well, assuming he can get it, yeah the fujitsu one is nice, but not sure where he lives.
