When you get your 9300/6000/XPS2 what is going to be the first game/program you're going to load on it after you check your screen?

I'd post a poll, but I'd kick my ass kicked

I am going to load and play Halo

hey do us @ notebookforums a favor, benchmark Doom III on some high resolutions with high settings... say 1920x1200 High Quality Textures with Shadors on and Specular on, High quality special effects on and so forth...

I plan to install partition magic and then delete the 2-3 GB partition Dell stuck on the HD. Afterwards I'll format the drive and install XP Pro and maybe some games for benchmarking. Funny thing is I likely won't be doing much gaming on the XPS 2 or even use it much at all since its mainly for my wife to use whenever she goes to starbucks.

I'm going to go into mspaint, and enlarge the drawing to the size of the screen, then fill it with white, then view it full screen. I'll check it for malfunctioning pixels and any other screen defect.

I'll repeat that for black, Red, Green and Blue.

Then I'll check it for reading documents.

Then, even if it fails any of those tests and I've decided to return it, I'm still going to play some UT2k4 to test out the 6800.

Probably run 3dmark05, too.

And of course I'll take lots of pictures and run powerstrip and post results to NotebookForums.com Dell forum.

I'm just going to look at it for about an hour. Then unload all the crap (without a re-install), then decide if I've got sufficient space reclaimed and if not do a re-install of XP.

After that I'll update all my drivers and firmware to the latest versions, then load 3D Mark 2005 and bench it.

Then after that I'll probably install my work software, Eclipse/WSAD, a couple of additional utilities/plugins and some server versions of stuff I use for work.

Then I'll load HL2, Vampire: Bloodlines, EQ2 and whatever else I have lying around and pray I have enough disk space.

I can't wait for the 100 GB 7200 rpm drives to come out.

First I'm going to do a complete and thurough review of my XPS2 and take 5mp pictures of it as well. I'll run some benchmarks and then also test a few games. Then get its XP Key and flatten the system with a reformat so I can install my "MSDN AA"-provided XP Pro.

This is all if I don't cancell and order a 7620 instead after the new review is done.

I think we're going to break the record for a particular notebook model review with this one. You know, Dell is going to have to do something about the screen, otherwise the iXPS2 will become dead in the water before the first one is even shipped.

rofl, im going to unwrap it as gently as my shaking hands are going to allow...

then ill start it, testing for dead pixels, and flatten the winxp installation, completly redo everything, so drivers, winxp, winrar, and then norton ghost my perfect system.. ^^

then ill start gaming with the hopefully released battlefield 2 demo then...

Well since my current machine is one I built about 6 yrs ago (PII 400), I am looking to get some serious gaming on. I am looking at all of the new titles, WOW, Doom3 Halflife, Far Cry... My old machine is a workhorse and was tops when I built it, but it is time to move on. Now if we can get Dell to ship them out!

Newbie alert!

I see alot of talk about updating the drivers and was wondering which ones you consider the most important?

Video drivers, BIOS firmware, chipset drivers if appropriate. Video drivers are usually the most important.

I swear....last dumb question! (this hour)
So head over to nvidia for the updated drivers and look for the 256mb 6800?

The first thing I'll install and run is is 3DMark05. Then Everest Home Edition. Then RealFlight G3 - An RC Flight Simulator.
