I know nothing of PC games, where or what to buy, are these the same games you see in stores for x-box
and playstation? Do I need a joystick or some other gagits. My new Sager 9860 should come this week, got a confirm from Luke @ PCT but am still waiting to see a shiping & tracking #

Thanks

Farcry, HL2. Both are great games with tons of eye candy for you and your new toy.

you can get the games just about any where... just google it.

-btw, HL2 stands for half life 2

EDIT: u might get a few more answers if you posted this in the gaming section.

You only need a controller if you plan on playing a game that requires one.

I would pick a game that interested me. What do you like? A few selctions might be, but are not limited to driving games, sports, dungeons & dragons, scifi, or war.

The most demanding game on the market at this time is Doom 3. I personally like Need For Speed Underground 2.

I recommend purchasing a mouse and mouse pad unless you opt for the driving or sport genre.

Doom 3 for sure :-) Doom 3 is huge and beautiful !

And maybe HL2 and Fracry, good games also :-)

If you dont have the laptop yet when you get it see if Battlefield 2 is out, which i recomend even a crappy joystick for it(for airplanes and helos)

Guild Wars. The game is not going to be released on April 28 but this weekend they will host a Beta Weekend Event if you have a preorder package. You can check it out at www.guildwars.com.

I would recomend downloading a few demos. Usually, if you go to a games web page, they let you download a playable version of the game. This way, you can put your system to the test, and also see if you like the game enough to buy.
A few exaples:
http://www.dungeonseige.com
http://www.princeofpersiagame.com -->Extra --> demo
Do a goodle for Lego Star Wars demo, thats a fun game =p

World of Warcraft if your into MMORPGs. OR even Everquest2 although im leaning towards WoW. At full settings it can really show if your new lappy will be able to handle heat etc. Never really tried Half Life2 on my 9860 other than Counterstrike Source where it does reach 59c

If you have a girlfriend or wife that you would like to keep around then whatever you do don't buy a MMORPG, which would include GuildWars or World of Warcraft.

I'm not saying these aren't great games and as a matter of fact I currently play WoW on a daily basis. However, the addictive nature of such games is very dangerous. I constantly have to fight myself from playing to much. Luckily I have two laptops that i put side by side and can work and play at the same time, but I'm sure the quality of work i'm doing is pathetic.

Michelangelo, you should switch to GuildWars: no grinding and no monthly fee.

Damn man you got a Sager 9860 and yet you nothing about computer games??

Meh what ever... you are a very luck lucky person!! The 9860 Kickass

If your looking for some really kick ass games, Check out:

1). Half-life 2 (BEST FREAKIN FPS--> First Person Shooter)
2). FarCry (almost as good as Half-life 2)
3). The Prince of Persia series.
4). The KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) series
5). Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition (awsome RPG-->Role Playing Game... based on dungeons and dragons.
6). The Splinter Cell series (especially now that Chaos Theory is coming out soon)
7). Guild Wars
8). World of Warcraft

Though I doubt that you might get all these games, i strongly suggest that u get some of these... (World of Warcraft is an only online game with a monthly subscription... but many people love this game)

Half Life 2.

It really comes down to what type of games you like to play.

RTS fan? Get ROME:TOTAL WAR or AGE OF EMPIRES
FPS fan? Get HL2, DOOM3, FARCRY, or Dikatana he said he doens't know about pc games, shhhhhhhh....
SIM fan? Rollercoaster Tycoon3, The Sims2
RPG fan? Neverwinter Nights or Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines (I'm only an hour or so into it and it's pretty cool so far)
Driving fan? Haven't played any in a VERY long time, sorry.
Turnbased Stratagy fan? Civ3
Point and Click Adventure fan? SilentHill 3 or 4 , The Longest Journey (I've noticed every girl I know LOVES these type of games)

As someone else said, definately DL some demos. Everyone likes diff games, take the time to find out which ones you like.

Half Life 2, Doom 3, Divine Divinity, and Neverwinter Nights are currently living on my 9860, and HL2 is getting the most attention right now. It runs absolutely beautifully (yeah, bad grammar) on the 9860 with high settings.

Solitare. SOL.exe A-W-E-S-O-M-E..... When you beat it, it displays some fantastic 3D animation that will really tax that 9860...

Hello Everyone,

Or if you are looking for something a little more technical, you might like flight simulators. Two I suggest are

Lock On: Modern Air Combat
IL2 series including Pacific Fighters

Those both will make your new machine shine but keep in mind, you will need a joystick

indeed, the quality of the studying i do with i have WoW on is pathetic lol. So dont buy WOW if you have other important priorities in life or dont know how to cope with Addiction called Warcrack.

I suggest the collectors edition of Half-Life 2. You get a whole bunch of games in one package for 40 or 50 bucks. Your 9860 can play any of those games at high or highest settings. Counter-Strike: Source is awesome, by the way.
