Only on a new Dell installation. Not on one that has a security setup.

Dell puts on Norton's, and a bunch of other stuff. You can uncheck these things. But you should put on the firewall like I showed you, and install the security found in the security link in the first post in this thread.

That is a somewhat loaded question. The answer is "probably not". For example most anti-virus software will load one or more tasks during Windows startup. You would not want to disable your virus protection - would you? Other software applications may initiate tasks at startup that may be important if you are using the associated software in a particular way. Choosing what to elimiante from startup is not a task to be taken lightly - you really need to do the proper reserach to make sure you are not shooting yourself in the foot.
