Nope. Sparkling is the result of light being refracted through the coating on top of the panel -- a design flaw. Light leakage is the backlight sneaking around the edges of the panel (and sometimes through the panel, but that's a different story) -- a manufacturing flaw.

ohh ok, for some reason I though sparkling was having the light "leak" through the LCD panel giving it the sparkly effect.

Also havent heard any mention of dead pixels.

I got 2905 mark on my 9300 stock settings

Boy did they install a sh1t load of useless stuff on that pc ( total memory usage was 222mb on BOOT ... ) , reformating it now!

Are you using 3DMark03 or '05 ?? That's a really low '03 score!

I am using 3dmark05. 2905 mark

I pray that the score is 05. My G15 scored higher than that with a 128MB GPU.

Also Trioxin how much ram you running?

It's not too bad. But the thread is for '03 scores. I had a Toshiba P30 that scored ~1400 on '05, so it's a lot better than that.

That is a really decent score for 05. The Sager with the same card, P4 3.6 and 1GB of ram only scored a 2600.

I would think running 1GB or even 2GB should really improve the performance.

Some guy here benched his 9300 and he got ~3100 stock and ~4000 OCed

??? are you sure? the x800 seems to beat it on your graph.

I gonna do another benchmark once everything is reformated, ill be back.
The graph does seem to be about 500 points lower then what the 9300 benched here. (Shinji_U and maxbelgium benched upwards of 4400 when OC'd)
That graph was done by Luke. It is comparing the GDDR3 ATI vs the GDDR2 nVidia. Seems very believable that the ATI would beat the older 6800 card.
Possible different driver versions as well. I know they make a difference in 3dmark

Just ran the benchmark on my 9300 that I got today. Ran it pretty much right out of the box and got a score of 7457.

Inspiron 9300
2 Ghz
1 Gb Ram
6800
60 Gb 7200

Hi Trioxin, and other 9300 ownersl,

....Now you've had a chance to use it for a wee while, how noisy is the CPU fan (and/or graphics fan)? Does it (they) come into use much?

THnx
the fans are whisper quite.
my score after a reformat got me to 3066 from 2905 stock. in 3dmark 05

Mine so far is whisper quiet.. no glitches yet.. I am running with 512 of memory. It's good to see that even with the 2ghz processor that the 3dmark03 score doesnt change much.. compared to my 1.6 processor... I was a little worried. I benchmarked in Sandra and my 9100 with the p4 3ghz cpu and 512mb pretty much kicks this 9300's ass in the cpu ALU/FPU benchmark... but this display and the over doubled 3dmark score is all I care about... plus this guy is definately noticeably lighter and thinner than the 9100... just a little bigger footprint. Battery life is better as well. DEFINATELY A worthwile upgrade.. If I had a 9100 with a 9800 and a ultraxga display I probably wouldn't have been as impressed.. I dont think. THis thing is Sweeter than Yoohoo though!!!

Alanath's benchmark looks closer to normal for a 6800go, though, as my XPS1 w/MR9800 clocked 380/690 gets 3060 in 3dmark05 and 7100 in 3dmark03...the Ultra has been reviewed by various sites w/stock speeds as scoring 5200 in 05, so 4400 with an overclocked 6800go n/u seems about right...I keep wondering when a site will get an XPS2 overclocked and run these benchies...the results should be ridiculously good...

This wireless card 1350.. does much better than the 1300 in my 9100... picks up much more signals sitting in the same spot.. guess the internal antenna that runs around the display must be better too. OH YEAH... I was wondering .. do these shiny displays scratch easier? I am kinda afraid of it getting scratched its so perfect right now...
