World of Warcraft on 9300

Well, first of all, let me say the 9300 is smokin....

Installing wow was a pain in the ass, had to copy files from cd to hd before it would install.

I run WoW at 1920*1200 @ maximum quality and the 9300 just laughs it off and it looks like a dream!
But here comes the issues i have.
The game runs flawless, no lag, smooth and juicy sweet. BUT, every minute or so it freezes for a 1/10 of a second or so and then goes back to normal.
What the hell is wrong?
I have stock everything.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This glitch never happened to me when i played it on my regular computer on the same connection/realm so i think it has to do with the laptop...

Uh oh, its the infamous 6800 stuttering issue, phuck. Shep this is a well documented problem with 6800 line of cards, google "6800 stutter" and you will find a lot of info. on it.

I never encounter any stuttering while playing my games... if there is, anyway of fixing it?

It only happens in certain games but this is a widely known problem with 6800 series cards. Like I said, you can do a quick google search about the subject. BTW I sent you 1 more PM earlier on.

As the Joker has said, this is a widely documented 6800 problem. You will find heaps of info about it on the www.worldofwarcraft.com site in the technical issues forum. I think there is even a sticky there now with possible fixes for the problem.

Cheers

The only think I can think of is that the optical drives on Inspiron 8000 series used to have Autoplay issues although that was mostly watching DVDs rather than gaming. Try disabling Autoplay though just to see.

hm.. i've read about this problem with the acer travelmate 8104, which uses x700 graphics card.

perhaps the confounding factor here is the graphics card, and the real problem lies in the centrino processor? Have you experienced this problem with the power plugged in and/or the processor running at full speed?

Doubt that, people have problems with the ordinary card too on wow.

Well, since WoW is the game I play the most, this problem alone would be enough reason to ship the entire 9300 back to Dell. That said, I went over to the World of Warcraft forums and couldn't find anyone else complaining about this specific problem...didn't really spend more than 5 minutes looking though.

I play all the time with the power plugged in.
This is so annoying im going mad any day now because it is so beautiful....
If you have not seen WoW on a 9300 @ 1920 * 1200 u havent seen anything!

And the fps seems to be ridicolous high, havent checked them, but trying to "produce" this error by spinning the character really fast does nothing, so it is clearly not a performance issue. It also doesnt matter where in the game i am, or the amount of action/other characters are around me.

For me, WoW is the only game i play so, basically, this sux. Big Time, i actually bought this computer to play games...

Thanks Dell

This is unbelievable!!! The only reason I went with the 9300 over the 700m was to play WoW. Otherwise this is strictly a internet/DVD burner/music files machine for me. Now I am worried about my screen (WXGA+) having sparkles and light bleed and a studdering problem on the vid card. How fixable is this problem? I can't view that other link due to a firewall, can anyone cut and paste a solution? If this thing can't play Wow properly I'm going down to the 6000d or a refirbed 8600, those can still play Wow right?

Just got my 9300, I downloaded the lastest driver and it says upon install that my hardware is not compatible with these drivers??? lol what is this?
I got the 6800go. any similar types encountered among you 9300 users?
I would try installing a tweaked set of drivers like the Xtreme G drivers. They can be found at guru3d.com. They fixed my stutter with my desktop 6800 in WoW and they will install on any laptop with an nvidia Go card.

Hey Klonoa,

If you have the WUXGA, could you contribute your screen info to this thread.

Try the drivers at www.omegadrivers.net they have drivers that have been fixed to work in laptops without the annoying 'not supported issue'.

Some of the newer Nvidia drivers did fix stutter issues in EQ2, but I don't know if they will fix WoW stutter issues.
Shep, can you update your drivers and give a report specifically on the WoW performance? Mine hasn't shipped yet so I still have time to cancel. I'm anxiously awaiting your reply...

I agree that its more than likely driver issues. The older drivers on my desktop 6800 stuttered a bit in HL2 and WoW. Using the newer drivers fixed the issue for me. Omega's nvidia drivers are rather old. I would not suggest them. His ATI drivers rock though. I would go for the Xtreme G drivers or go to laptopvideo2go.com and make any set of drivers work that you want. He has custom .inf files for every nvidia driver set.
