Nc8230 anyone?

Has anyone been playing around with the new HP Nc8230?

I have read the reviews on CNet and in PC Magazine, both have been very good. Was wondering about the noise level and graphics performance. Has anyone seen this notebook in the flesh?

Will the price fall for these?

I have been trying to get the guts to ask the D.M. for the NC8230 for my work Machine. Compaired to the Fujitsu LifeBook N3510 with the X300 its still a bit high.
The great feature for me is the Sreial Port. Hard to come by these days and Oh so Necessary for reprograming old equip.
(USB serial converters are nice but the real deal seems better)

nc8230 has Mobility Radeon X600 64 MB. You should expect to get performance similar to MR9700 64 MB. In 3dmark03's that would be something around 2700, I believe. In 3dmark05's it should be something around 800.

On their website, it said option for X600 w/128MB RAM. But can't seems to find it anywhere on how to configure it.

All nc8230 models seem to be unconfigurable now. And all of them come with 64 MB VRAM. I guess the 128 MB option will be available only when customization becomes possible.

Also, it seems a bit pricey too.

Sad it is not offered through the home user area, I can't take advantage of the EPP pricing hehehe
