I don't know, but I hope this is a sign that they'll go into production for real tomorrow.

I just called Dell and cancelled my old order. Upgraded my system from 2 ghz to 2.13 ghz and it came out to $200 cheaper! I guess I'm lucky and I always end up with Americans on the other line rather than some thick accented Indian 10,000 miles away. Anyhow, she said my new order is est. to be April 18th but she'd expedite it to overnight for me for free as well. Later date than before but oh well, cheaper + faster cpu is worth it. I also got her extension number which helps too since I have an actual person to contact now whenever i have questions.

What?! What did you say to them to get it cheaper and faster? Damn, I might just cancell my order now and say to hell with it. Too many people getting better deals than me. :P

April 1st... but then I'm a fool.

haha go figure, i get my new order number and the lady screwed it up. She put 512 MB ram rather than 1 GB. Gonna call her and make sure she gives me a gig.

I just called sales... I wanted to see if I could use my Dell Preferred Account and save another 2% on my purchase before the offer ends today but I also didn't want to lose my current order.

so here's what happen -

rep said: "I'm sorry, you're a day too late... if you called yesterday you could have done it without needing to re-order."
I reply: "but the offer ends today - March 16 - I'm reading it online now... there's still time."
rep then replies: "yes, but your system went into production today."
I said: "really? That sounds even better - thanks!"

I guess we'll see what happens next...

Nice!

Well, I haven't seen anything special happening with my order, so I'm gonna say it'll ship on April 11th, the ship date I've had since I ordered on February 25th. I've learned to be pessimistic with this stuff, but I'm a little optimistic about this.

Sweet Maybe mine really did hit kitting at some point today and the phone status never got updated.

I'm sure we'll all see tomorrow if more people get a status like mine.

well i know you guys have been waiting since feb and i do feel pitty!!
....
but i think it will ship a week or two earlier than est. ship date... its an easy way of making us happy and easy for dell to do....

call 1-800-433-9014

It's all automated... you just need to say your order number when asked
post #37 of 241
I'm still suspicious despite what the sales rep said because my automated status and online status still indicate pre-production... so I may still need to wait until April
post #38 of 241
he probably told you that so 1- you can hang up and not complain no more or 2- it was break time for the rep, he wanted to hang up badly so he can go enjoy a smoke outside...

After seeing some of my fellow first day buyers go into production, I'm going to call tommorow and complain if mine doesn't go into production. I'm running on 3 weeks of waiting. I bet though that they don't start going into mass production until next monday.

This morning they pushed back the shipping of the extra battery to 3/28 so ... I will revise my estimate to 3/28 for shipping. I have a hunch they won't release system specific parts until they release the system.
