After fondling around with my new 9300 for a while, and comparing it to my friend's Vaio with Xbrite and other friend's 9860 (we're in Architecture school together) I've become very happy with my purchase. We compared load times with Illustrator, Photoshop, and renderings in AutoCAD as well as 3-D Studio Max. The 9300 was noticeably faster than the Sager loading up Photoshop and Illustrator. Mine was done loading plenty quicker than his as well as the Vaio. (Dont remember the model number on the Vaio, but its got Xbrite with 512 RAM, 40 gig HD) Rendering and still rotation speeds were on par with the 9860 and Vaio. We had a rather large site model rendered on CAD that we chose to spin around on axis to see who's would glitch up or slow down, and none did. My friend's Sager was equipped with the 3.6 ghz P4, x800 and 2 GIGS (overkill if Ive ever seen it) of RAM. Lastly the screen. Xbrite and Sony took the cake here. NO LIGHT LEAKAGE whatsoever on that thing, tested all 3 with the Windows XP start up screen. Unfortunately, only mine had minor light leakage on the middle bottom part of the screen, but that's a problem I'm sure most of you are aware of. The screen is NOT sparkly at all, so I really don't have a problem with it. All in all, it was an excellent purchase. The keyboard is EXCELLENT I must say. I didn't like the looks of it at first, but it has won me over. Typing on it right now lol. The comp is beautiful, and doesn't get warm at all. I've had it on for a good 3 or 4 hours now. Nowhere as warm as the 9860, not even close. That's thanks to M chip I'm sure. Next time we have em side by side I'll take pics of all 3, and screens too. It's hard to see the difference though with a digital image, but I'm sure it'll make the board happy. All in all, I love the 9300. Then again I did get the K9975 screen.
Pros:
Doesnt get warm.
Excellent graphics processor
Pentium M 1.86 ghz loads incredibly fast
Lightweight
GREAT sound.
Cons:
Screen not on par with Xbrites.
No numeric keypad
Buncha crap Dell puts on there to start. (Quickbooks is 395.00 megs if I do recall)
Sorry for the disorganized review, just kinda wanted to put my info out there for you guys to see, as it's probably the first time it's been put side be side with a Vaio and Sager. I wish I had my camera to take pics, and my camera phone is no good. Basically it's the power of a Sager with the sleekness of a Sony....minus the badass screen.
P.S. The 9300 had better sound than the other two. Period. Sound Quality was nicer than the Sager it higher volumes.
