Better sound on 8890?

I love my 8890, its the best laptop I have ever owned, but the sound blows. I was watching matrix on my toshiba today and was wondering if there was a way to get some more robust sound out of the 8890 speakers, I'm not expecting 5.1 digital sound but anyway to get it louder beyond the volume/windows volume control settings would be great. I have everything maxed out and its hard to understand anything because the sound is still too low, sometimes even with headphones, thx.. - Chris

Speakers

I think the speakers are you problem, because I thought the 8890 had 6 Channel sound, 5.1 for things that supported it.

use headphones

or do what I'm going to do, hook it up to my phat stereo.

best bet for sound on a laptop would be an external source. I know that toshiba has put extra money into the speakers of their laptop, but would you rather have the sound improvement that toshiba offers or the performance improvement of the sager. If I were you I would trust a good pair of headphones.

Hmm interesting ......I had the same problem on my old Dell inspiron. I never expect good quality sound from a laptop but I want it to at least get lound. I don't mean wall shaking loud but if I am on a noisy airplane and the volume is not loud enough with headphones then summtin is wrong!

Sound

Well, I am using some quality Labtec headphones, but besides the cracking, hiss, and poping that is expected from a crappy sound card, I can't turn it UP LOUD! Its really annoying. I will have to see what happens when I hook up my amplified speakers...

well with right settings the sagers can get decently loud. Maybe to the point where you can still listen to music while showering in the next room.

Sound

I'v spent the last 2 days turning up every volume control I could find... Still nothing. Its probably a driver thing. After the crap ATI drivers, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm having the same problem.
Its gets kind of ridiculous when you can't hear the movie loud enough WITH / in Headphones... even just in something like a restauraunt.
This is the weakest part of the machine for me, otherwise it rocks.

Well the ATI drivers on the 8887 are phenomenally good. I dont' know about the 8890.

Have you updated the audio drivers?
Have you made the settings so you're using laptop speakers or headphones?

I mean, if you're really having trouble I'd suggest getting Sound Blaster MP3+ its a small external sound device. I use it all the time.

Booting Up Your Sound on 8890

Hi everyone, I got my 8890 and been messing with it. Yes, the

sound does not get very loud and right now I am having trouble

getting my mic to record off my head set but the built in mic

works.. or it did at one point. Well See if this helps boots up

the sound on your speakers. I am not sure what settings I had it

on the time. Put your head set or speckers in the headphone jack

like normal...but dont push all the way in. You might have to

play with it to get sound coming out of both speckers but having

it stick out a little bit. This increased sound for me hope it works

for yall.

i'll tell you whT I DID. I got a set of external speakers because i wanted my sytem basically as a desktop replacement, not king of mobility. I was angry when my speakers did not get that loud as they were rated the best pc speakers sold. I got an external sound card and that solved the problem. NOw,,,, what i believe it is is that the sound card in these laptops does not deliver enough power to the speakers. Best bet for you guys wanting head phones would be to buy an echo indigo. I think you can search google for one. If you want external speakers go for a sound blaster extigy or mp3plus. I got the extigy on clearance from bestbuy for $74 or something so I decided on that. I do not think it is possible to get real loud sound out of these speakers so you have to decide if you want great headphone sound(echoindigo) or great external speaker sound(extigy or mp3plus)....

Have you changed your speaker settings to laptop? I did that, and my sound nearly doubled, I believe. You may have some success with that. I think you can find the menu in the Control Panel.

On Sager's drivers page if you go to the 8887 drivers you will see the "miscellanies" (they spelled it wrong ). In there you can find a patch for windvd that boosts the volume when you run the windvd software. If you prefer not to use windvd I believe it works if you just open WINdvd and then play the dvd through your player of choice. I hope that helps a little.
