im new here cuz i just found this website but i already purchased my laptop

im got the 1.6 m, 1 gb ddr2 ram 533mhz, 80 gb hdd, 17 widescreen with truelife, 128mb ati radeon, and a 9 cell lion. this also includes the standards and i got it for 1562 with tax included.

was this a good deal or should i have waited or gotten something different?

o is there a high demand for the 9300 or did it just come out?

Its an ok deal. I speced one with the 256MB card for the same price. Actually less, minus the ram. I think you are wasting the system by going with 128MB card. Why do you need 1GB of ram with that card? The ram wont even be the limiting factor IMO.

better coupons

Yeah, I just used a $750 coupon is all. I had the chance to order with 35% off, but it only saved me $5. If it were me, and it is, I bought half as much ram and twice as much video card. Upgrading ram is CHEAP and EASY. I have never had that experience when upgrading a GPU. Beside the lowest common denominator in your system is now your GPU. 128MB video card just doesnt hack it for me, I play EQ2. I can stomach it though with 512MB of ram, until I can afford better. I personally can afford to max out an XPS2, but I just dont want to buy ram from Dell. They are VERY overpriced. I want 2GB of ram, so I will order low and resell those pieces when my new comes in.

drop the 80gb to 60 or 40... dump 512mb of the memory and go for the 6800.... which is the biggest reason to get the notebook... just got mine with the 6800 for 1540 shipped. that 6800 makes every drop of difference in the world.

oh yeah. .by the way.. its real easy to change the order.. just call them with your order ID and make the adjustments.. I had a couple things changed and it didnt even effect my ship date.

There's Nothing wrong with the ATI card.

It has dedicated Memory, separate from system memory. And it doesn't have Hypermemory. I asked tech support.

The rest of the info is here.

Hey man,

Where are you going to get your RAM? I just ordered my 9300 and didn't upgrade the RAM becase Dell is way overpriced on memory upgrades. I got the geforce 6800, WUXGA, pm 1.7 and 2 yr warranty. I heard crucial is cheaper than dell, but what are other alternatives?

Serious? It seeems the US and Australian ordering process is somewhat different. I tried adding a carry case a day after placing my 9300 order. The Dell rep (in a thick indian accent) told me i would have to cancel my order and reorder it with the case....

another plus to the x300 128 is it doesn't eat the power the 6800 does. The 6800 is 25-30 watts with no throttle (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). If you don't play games and want a system with a big screen and need long battery life, it may be the wise choice.
