can 9300 owners check this....

when I am on standby and remove the main battery, the system shuts off because of lack of power. I need to restart again. On my 8600, there is a backup internal batter that goes on for a couple of minutes so that I can replace the main battery in standby mode. Can anyone else confirm that if you remove the battery of your 9300 in standby mode, the system shuts of completely, requiring a complete start up?

Thanks

Wow, I never knew that about the 8600. That's pretty cool. I don't know about the 9300, but the 9200 has no such internal battery (other than the cell that keeps the CMOS alive).

yup, and I am thinking that if the 9200/300 dont have it, its probably a cost cutting measure just like the lack of a built in microphone. What a bummer!

That is an awesome feature and one I've wondered why wasn't in any notebooks. I didn't know the 8600 had that either. Well, the 9300 user manual says to make sure the notebook is turned off when changing the battery and I don't see anything else. Of course you shouldn't need to turn off the notebook if it's plugged in though, I wouldn't think.

Becuase I have a feeling that hibernation kinda took the wind of of needing to go into standby, my computer after hibernation is back in windows in about 30 seconds. Cost cutting measure for sure, but with a cheaper almost as effective solution available, why spend the money to do add an internal battery when hibernation is almost as effiecient a process?
