i got my SD driver for my 9300 from the driver downloads for the 9200.... 9300 comes supplied with SP2 which has it already built in, so i guess they didn't bother supplying the separate driver for the 9300. I've only got SP1 so I needed the driver

>> ALWAYS install Intel's chipset identification package <<

What exactly does that mean? I did a clean install, then I popped in my backed up drivers CD, then I right click updated driver on all the question marked drivers in device manager, and that was it. Notebook runs great, network and wireless works great too. Don't know about the SD slot. USB and firewire work too.

For example. what reason is there to install the intel wireless utilities? I noticed as delivered that there were several tasks running eating up memory for the wireless from intel. After my clean install, I don't have them anymore but my wireless works great.

You only need to install the SDD driver if you do not use XP SP2- it is built into SP2. If you do install SP2 and still see devices with the question mark, you can delete them and reboot. It will detect the hardware and use the newly installed SP2 drivers to set things up correctly, if SP2 provided the drivers. SP1/SP2 provides USB 2.0, and SP2 provides the SDD stuff.
