New Drivers: Audigy 2 ZS Notebook -Audio through noteboook speakers - Page 2

I'm not sure?

I can confirm it works though. Just try it if your doubtful.

Well, I can't get it to work. I did all the steps (I'm assuming you set realtek audio to max by selecting it as your audio device then adjusting the slider right?) and I do have the check mark next to "audio playback through notebook speakers". But nothing comes out. If I plug into the headphone jack, it works as expected.

I sure hope I can get this figured out. If anybody can think of anything I might be doing wrong, please suggest it.

thanks,

Don't just unplug the headphone jack, unplug the multi-cable from the card, and it should work

Jason.

I'm not using the multicable at all. So that's not gonna help for me anyway. Any other thoughts?

When you use the feature mode selection utility, and you press the 'test sound' button by the use laptop speakers bit, are you getting any output ?? It routes to the card in 2 different ways, I have to press it twice to get mine to work . ..

Thanks, now it's working.

The problem was I never saw the interface before! Every time I'd double-click on it, it would just appear over by the clock. So I thought that was all there was. So after what you wrote, I started looking for the "utility" lol. A left click on the little icon, and there it was!

Cool! thanks. Now to see who good it works..

I've already noticed to things about it.

1-I have to insert the card after the computer is booted, or else Norton Anti-virus won't run

2-I don't seem to be able to un-mount the soundlblaster device anymore. It always tell me to "try again later". So I just shut it down, then take the card out.

Woot thanks for the tips

Everything is working after another reboot of the lappy once the software configured the sound output.

I have this question???

I just got my Audigy 2 card intalled and with a few updates and refering back to the forms to get the card to work... it works great(somewhat).

My take on the "How is it running through the speakers" question is; its being processed through the Audigy card but its still routed through the Realtec hardware. Even though the sound is much more fuller and crisp when the Audigy card is installed, I still hear the same popping and crackling sounds with some music and some game play with the card intalled and removed. But I don't hear the noise with the Audigy card intalled and the headphone plugged up like I hear the noise when the headphone are plugged into the laptop directly. With that said, I do think its an awesome buy because when I am listening through the headphones or have my amped speakers, it is well worth it. but it does lead me to the question...

Whenever the card is installed, it slows my laptop down. not much but very noticable to me. menus, max/min pages and some game play are just ever-so slightly running just a little slower. I checked the memory useage and its only running about 15-20MB which bring my system memory idle to about 270MB, there should be no probs in the memory department, we all should have at least a 1gb of memory. I would also think that most of the processing would be done by the card, soooo why is it slowing my laptop down???? Is anyone else noticing this??

Strange things ... Audigy card normally is full hardware EAX compliant ... Normally you would notice a increase of performance in game ...

Do you try a benchmark with sound like HL² or Far Cry ?

Nope I have not done any benchmarking, don't have any software to do it, is HL2 a benchmark program??? I don't play Far Cry(yet). I just finished MOHA, and I was playing Doom3. Those were my high performance games. Right now I am playing BF1942 DCX. so where can I find benchmark software.

try 3dmark2003 or 2005 2003 i know for certain has a sound test that gives you an fps you could compare with and without the audigy, i don't know if 2005 comes with that, it should.

...

I'm experiencing sound lag, what can it be ?
now it's barely noticeable, but last time I installed the card using any drivers, it would lag sound for almost a second...

this, in games like counter-strike source, is way too much and can mean life or death.
anyone with this same problem ?

test it with lipsynch in HL2 opening, and shooting in CS: S

Do you experience that with a another games ? not based on HL² i mean

...

today I played BF Vietnam, and it lags too.
it's damn annoying...

This is a common problem with Clevo 900 (aka 9860) it's not a soundcard issue, and there is no working solution for it, check my other posts about the problem, I must say though I don't get any lag with the new FIA GTR racing which I just got and it runs everything maxed out, that game ROCKS

...

you are right, it's not the SB card.
today I tried to play a DVD movie with the built in realtek card, and it lagged too.

so, I'm f*cked right ?

surround sound?

Does the 2.10.06 driver update enable surround sound for the notebook speakers, or just stereo?

I'm not sure, the speakers are all so close together, (and all in front of me) I hadn't noticed.

speaker config

Yes, you probably wouldn't just notice it. But there is a speaker configuration test/calibration tool in the Creative s/w. Has anyone tried it out?
