Hi guys,

For all those who have received their 9300 and chose the 8x DVDRW option, which DVDRW did it come with?

Mine is a Sony DW-56A 8x DVD+/-RW.

Same here, but today they send me a new one; mine it's defective (dvd playback jerky, burn only at 0.9x).

I too have the Sony, already had issues with some Game CD-ROM's (DVD's fine) believe a firmware update is in order. On the Dell website though, the only DVD0RW listed is a Teac, which has a firmware update available.

Does anybody have the TEAC DV-28EC 8X Slim DVD listed on the 9300 support page?

I think the major problem with the Sony DVD burner is that even though it says its an 8X burner, the type of media that it will burn at its maximum is very very limited. However, I know the Fuji 8X DVD+R discs that were on sale recently at BestBuy can do 8X. Those are Taiyo Yudens I think.

I asked this in another thread but maybe now it'll get ansewered. Is it possible to change my drive out for a slim drive panasonic slotloading drive. I looked at the specs it has the same dimensions, and it uses the same interface (IDE i think). I just dont know if the face will fit exactly or if it is/isnt compatibale in some other way. Thanks.

Today I received my new dvd and is not sony, it's nec; work without flaws and it's much more silence than the sony (although the sony was defective).

The manufacture date is the same: feb 2005
