PHASES: Date Ordered: 2/18/2005
Phase 2: 2/21/05
Phase 3: 2/28/05
made some changes to case/hard drive around 2/24, spoke to sales, they were cool.
Phase 4: no email
Phase 5: no email
Phase 6: no email
Phase 7: no email
Phase 8: no email

3/11/05 rolls around and still phase 3, from reading prior posts, figured I'd call & see. spoke to a rep and was informed that on 3/7/05 I hit phase 9 and that my system should ship out early next week 3/14-3/18. no big deal to me, I got patience. (that's waht 9 years in a vietnamese prison camp will do to a man.)

Phase 9: 3/16/05 so I hit phase 9? interesting..... either the rep I spoke to was misinformed or the email phase status to customer is lagging way behind. Either way, it's all good. I'm in no rush. Pics soon to follow...........

Phase 9 then there will be a slight delay ....

Thanks for the warm welcome. I can see why alot of people need the support of fellow AW owners during the phase game, for example:

There will be a slight delay in your Alienware order, because the part(s) listed
below are temporarily backordered. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and assure you that we are doing everything in our power to expedite the process.

1- AREA-51M 7700 D900T NVIDIA DDR3 6800FXGO WITH 256MB MODULE .. Expected Date:
3/20/2005

If you have any questions regarding your order, please do not hesitate to
contact our sales department by replying to this e-mail.

Thank you for choosing Alienware.

Well let's see how long I stay in Phase 9 after the NVIDIA rolls around on 3/20. Like my email stated, "Perfection takes time!"

Let me tell my phase story for another purchase:

November 1979, Chevrolet dealer Rochester, NY. I'm wanting the new 1980 Corvette very badly. See link for a pic of same model:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...lr%3D%26sa%3DN

I place my order selecting the optional L-82 engine package (35 extra HP). The waiting begins, GM runs the complete "run" of L-82's the same week in May of 1980 6 MONTHS OF WAITING

You think that's bad man? My expected system shipping date was 3/17...yesterday. CS reps told man 8 days ago that my system had a chance to ship last Friday, and if not, by this last Monday or Tuesday "for sure". They told me during that phone call that I was already at Phase 9.

Well, Monday rolls around and still sitting at Phase 3, so I give them a call. I was then told that I was only on Phase 8, and I got into it with the guy who told me that I had been "misinformed" previously. I told him that as long as it shipped out by 3/17, I would be ok with the lies I had been told.

Fast forward to Wednesday when I hit Phase 12. I figured there would be no way that they wouldn't make the shipping date of the next day from there. WRONG! Not only is it still not shipped, but I'm back at Phase 9 again! I made an angry call this morning and was told it would likely ship today. When I asked what the cause was, I was told that someone had dropped the damn thing.

After that, I took the CS reps advice and fired off a not so nice letter to feedback@alienware.com. I am absolutely irate at the moment at this level of incompetency on Alienware's part. I told them that if they don't get the damn thing out today, to cancel my order. For those of you who have built systems in the past, I think we all know that it shouldn't take them more than a few days to get through all these "phases". Basically, they just sit on your money because "perfection takes time", which translates to "because we can" while they wait for price drops from their suppliers. What a bunch of BS. There's a high level of inefficiency going on over there, and it's time that everyone stopped putting up with it. I'm just afraid that my system's going to get to me DOA like Yang's.

Sorry to hear they dropped your alien. Compared to what your going through, as well as Yang's whole ordeal. I have had it easy. I'm not calling them up to check on the progress anymore because I don't want to pressure them into rushing into finishing my 7700. Don't wanna piss off or stress anyone who's building my pc. I figure my 7700 should be here within 2 more weeks.

that's a damn sweet vette with the extra 35 ponies. Bet that thing purred.

Yang, late 60's thru early 80's were really curvy with a coke bottle waist. Kinda like driving a fine looking woman I had a '79 also.
I remember a guy who waited well over 100 days for his alienware.
Congrats on the new baby. It's worth the wait!
welcome to the alienware family....it's a long wait and without these forums i would've driven myself(and everyone who i could tell about my pc) insane...but upon arrival you know the worrying, wait and money was worth it and more.

Welcome Sal! My 7700 is on its way and should arrive on Tuesday - I'm not as calm as you - I hope the FedEx guy doesn't get the wrong idea when I attack him at the door!
