I got a call from a lady at Dell monday said my XPS2 has gone to production. My account still says pre-production. My card was charged and everything fine (split up in two days). I check my bank account this morning and the money Dell charged my card was released back to my account. WTF is going on with this.

lol guess it really didnt go into production then. Hey at least they didnt screw up your order! The lady at dell forgot to give me 1 GB of ram so now I gotta get her to cancel today when she gets to work and re-order. I'm betting I won't see my XPS 2 until June.

They needed to verify that the funds are available. They charge once it's shipped.

So they trust funds to be their a month later and after they ship it?!

Pretty much.
I had the same thing happen to me. After 4-5 days the $$$ went back into my account.
Was hoping they'd forget me...lol...but got my machine yesterday (shipped on Monday) and the $$$ came out last night.

That's what it said when I ordered.

Same thing happened to me, but I look at it this way. I fugure it's going to be at least 3 more weeks till my laptop is ready for shipping. By then I'm sure there will be a few people on here that have gotten theirs. If I don't like what I see as far as first impressions, then I'll just take the credit limit for my Visa from 8000.00 to 500.00 temporarily, and let the CS reps stew trying to get ahold of me

That's because I found out all dell does is check if you have the money available and then charges you the day that it ships, thats why I still have 2100 dollars in me checking account rather than 86 at the moment.

I spoke with a sales rep yesterday that said my XPS2 started production yet my order status online and by phone still indicate I'm stuck in pre-production... so it still looks like mid-April before it's ready to ship

maybe their waiting for new LCDs or 6800 Ultra card or both?
