I have an acer aspire 2010 and it freezes on the 1st boot up screen with the big logo with "Acer" on it. I can try to push F2 to enter the BIOS config it freezes also. I see the hard drive light on solid not blinking. I was using Fedora Core 3 and WinXP and experimenting with ndiswrapper to get my Intel Pro 2200BG card to work with linux and I've talked to some people and they say the master boot record could be screwed up. I was wondering the easiest way to way to reser the CMOS battery or is there a jumper or what? Anyone know? I know this would void the warranty, I called Acer and the rep would not tell me how to do it he said I could get a new HDD shipped free but I'd have to ship my old one back within 15days but I havn't back up all my data yet if anyone knows what this problem could be before I do all this. Sometimes I can get lucky and itll ask me for my BIOS password and let me into GRUB to choose which O/S to boot into but I choose windows and it froze of course. I recently got the BIOS password prompt again and chose linux and it froze on ""detecting new hardare" If I can get this password prompt again Ill just try to boot into knoppix or something to backup my data and then format... Help would be very much appreciated!
