You can't remember your AIM password or what?

Doesn't the AIM site have a way to reset your password?

On a Mac the AIM client is referred to iChat - the only way to reset your AIM password is through AIM's Website. Keychain will store passwords but will not display them.. If you enabled the Root user you still shouldn't be able to see account passwords for private services. Only system Passwords can be changed by the ROOT user.

It will display them if you find the entry you want, and check "Show Password". It will ask for your computer password first to reveal it though.

And having root on the system won't make a difference. Using root to do anything on OS X is depereciated, instead the system pushes the use of sudo on accounts considered "administrators"

Ah yes .. Sorry bout that was not thinking ... That is correct but you have to have the Admin password. Mind is wondering from several different post today. =)

No...On a Mac the AIM client is referred to as AIM. iChat is Apple's software for accessing AIM. He didn't say he was using iChat, which lead me to believe he was using AIM.

Either way, the AOL website should have a password recovery feature.

AIM for Mac (NOT iCHAT) lost log encryption password

I am having the same problem, I have set my password for the logged file encryption so long ago (and it is different from my aim account password) that I can't remember it. I now need to get into one of those old files for some contact information and I can't read my msg logs because I don't have this password any longer. I have checked my keychain and while it does have my aim ACCOUNT passwords it does not have the msg log encryption pw. I have searched AIM's website and FAQ's etc. and the web and can find no reference as to how I might reset this msg log password without already having my old one. If anyone can help on this matter I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it!!

Thank you!

Amy

If you do know a solution to this please im me as well as post since I could really use the information asap!! aim - freebornai

unfortunately that is not what I am referring to...

see this page
http://www.aim.com/get_aim/mac/lates...ive/011403.adp

"Here it us, the long awaited Logging feature, and now it's even better than before. Not only does AIM give you the ability to log all of your IMs and Chat messages, now you can also use the added security of encryption. With AIM's new Encrypted Logging feature, your IM and Chat logs are encrypted automatically and can only be opened with the password that you choose!"

This is what I am referring to - and it can be different from your ACCOUNT password (which is what the link you sent me will reset) and it does not change when you change your account password...
