why is it that the people (including me) that already got there machines still hang out on these boards? I figured i would stop posting once i got my pc and posted the pics. But i find myself checking these new posts almost everyday! i dont know i thought i would ask why the rest of you guys stick around.

From selection, phase game frustration to support, many people have been there for me. During that time I have met some really good people. I feel compelled to help others and meet more friends. Thats why I stay.

It would actually be nice if more people did.......even if they just popped back every month or so for feedback.........

I first discovered this board when scouring the net for info on my next purchase. Which is now an AW 7700. I would feel very compelled to stick around long after I get my machine. One of the reasons is so I can brag about it to the have-nots and to post proud pics of it.
Most of all, this is more of a community than a technical help board.

When I'm bored I hop in here...see what's new, what's goin on (i.e. darkstar). There seems to be a lot of good people and info on these boards. I get a laugh out of some of it too. I used these boards while waiting for my lappy to come in and it was my lil sanctuary to keep me from becoming over anxious.

Hmm...why DO I stick around....

Well, when I was researching the purchase of a machine, I lucked onto this site, and received lots of friendly advice and comments from various people. I also got to know people like the infamous DB, Hammer, Ruxor, Yang, NassauMike, MJ, Tiger and others too many to mention. Also Craig and Aurora keep some semblance of order without nannying us too much.

Also the "family" atmosphere, the attitude of generally everybody, the way we help, advise, criticise and just plain mess with everybody is great! Nothing is safe, no taboo is taboo, no comment, mistake, statement goes unremarked upon, picked apart and dissected. We help and in turn are helped by people. We learn and we teach and we pick up new ideas etc. We make friends and become friends, we laugh at, with, and about each other.

But the main reason can be summed up in two words: Good people!!!!!!

AND RECOGNIZED AS SUCH

You summed it up quite well

Ditto, what Red said, plus it's always good to welcome new members...help in whatever information any particular member needs be it pc/lappy related or not.

I've been on these forums for over a year, and yeah some people "disapear" when they get their machines, but most of us stay. I guess it's due to the fact, that you can communicate w/ people from all over the world who are just pure enthusiats, that enjoy interacting w/ people w/ the same common interests. It's not like I go out of my way to welcome new members or help other people, but knowing that I was able to provide useful information to either someone new to the forums, someone seeking advice on a purchase, seeking general opinions on an open forum, or just trying to make some "online" friends...really in way gives that "warm fuzzy" feeling inside ...

Plus I think more people will either be coming back from hiding or sticking around since NBF has sponsored some servers, and it would just be great to play side by side or on opposite sides of the people you pretty much chat w/ on a daily basis. Not to say I'm obsessed, but being on NBF is part of my daily routine...it's like when you wake up in the morning some people turn on the tv n watch the news or read the paper, I check NBF and check CNN.com...when I get back from work, on a trip, in "da loo" aka pooper I don't bring a magazine...I bring my laptop hahahahaha...ok i'm done now

Red has pretty much stole my thunder by stating everything i would've. I stumbled upon this site when i was looking into buying an acer ferrari laptop....I always dreamed about an alienware but didn't think i could sink the cash into one. But reading the alienware forums and seeing how this family of owners geniunely feels happy for new owners and wants to help out current ones convinced me to take the plunge. I am thoroughly happy with alienware and recommend them to my friends even with the sli issues i'm experiencing. I actually got a coworker to order as well. I've never felt so much as being part of a family from owning something. And to be part of this is something to be proud of.

Hah!!! You think your girlfriend is expensive... My wife just made me buy her a stupid CELL PHONE CRYSTAL SET to decorate her phone like Paris Hilton's!!! For 750 pink/white crystals, it cost $120 for the kit!!! Then I just bought her a $500 portable Toshiba DVD player, A Sony PSP, A new BLUETOOTH Cell, just had to have bluetooth, a couple of Dooney & Burke bags, and an iPOD 1Gb Shuffle! Wolf DO NOT GET MARRIED UNLESS YOU HAVE A RIPPIN' JOB. I know that I could have not bought my ALIENWARE if she didn't get her toys. My other hobby is my Honda S2000...

Sweet I heard those are very cool, You must tell us how it drives and stuff. I hope I will also stay around to help other people as well. As other people have also stated, It was just by chance I stumbled upon these boards even after the fact I purchased the 7700. But so far the Boards have just made me want the system even more *taps foot impatiently* But so far I've been trying to live vicariously through other peoples info.

I came here to do research on notebooks because I need to replace my current notebook (Toshiba M200). While checking out all the different models I got attracted to the AW forum because of the "family" feeling and the way Aurora and Craig run it. In fact, it was this forum that sealed the deal for me, as it convinced me AW is a class outfit.

I've butted heads with some folks here (Astu, DarthBeavis), but I would not trade them for anyone. DB I got to like and respect a lot, and the same for Astu, Yang, Red, and on and on (don't feel left out if i didn't name you, if I named everyone it would take about 1000 words). I pop in here every day to see what's cooking, and am starting to be able to tell what general tone the thread will have by the name of the poster.

I'll not be leaving when my Sentia (Phase 9 today) arrives, it's too much fun.
