This guy is just trying to justify his purchase through flawed logic. Let them be, we need AW/Sager to stay afloat so Dell has some competition. I'll sum up his drivel:

3DMark Scores: Yeah the faster card is tweaked relative to a slower card (that also has tweaked drivers) but that doesn't mean the faster card is faster. [nice logic]

CPU: Cache means everything for P-M man, its a 4 cylinder engine vs P4 thats a V8. We all know V8's are better, haaarr! When we can upgrade our Pee 4 to a bigger cache, XPS 2 will cry uncle!

What he fails to realize is that the PM is more efficient because of its cache but mainly because of the fewer (and more effecient) pipeline stages compared to the P4's 30 or so. Also, the PM chips runs at a lower voltage so it consumes less power and generates less heat. The only thing that the PM falls behind on compared to a Prescott is hyperthreading and FP calculations in which there isnt a large delta anyway.

wow - it's getting really crazy in that forum!

I was abducted by Alienware once... I'm just glad XPS2 was released and helped pull me away. Though I still like the looks and alien theme but sadly Alienware is not nearly what I expected it to be.

we got one thing to worry about at the xps2, and that are the screens!

LOL I dunno man, there's a good chance we'll get our XPS 2's before he gets his computer, assuming he ordered it within the past 5 days or so.

Why does Alienware always pop up when there's a big new competitor? If they were so sure of their systems being the best then they wouldn't need to constantly compare and check each individual competitor nor lie about the specifications of the XPS2 on their comparison page.

Simply put, AW is an awful company. They charge too much, have very poor service and quality control, and have ugly laptops that they try to pass off as monster gaming machines. Why anyone would even consider them before Sager or Hypersonic is ridiculous. Save some money and some time, don't buy AW. They're behind on specifications, performance, and build (they don't have those cool LED's you know that's that they're most upset about; no one over at AW ever though of modding their system like the Dells), and they cost way more than a competitive Sager or Hypersonic which both provide better choices.

AW is marketing hype. Dell is not perfect either (the wal-mart of computers X_X) but in this case Dell has the upper hand when you sit back and look at all the specifications and benchmarks. AW wants to disregard things like 3dMark scores when they've always used them to compare their systems, but now that there's someone higher 3dMark and others are suddenly not applicable. It's a Desperate attempt to make people think you're the best when you're really not. I've used 2 AW laptops and a Desktop and I could never justisfy the cost. Not to say I'd buy Dell all the time either because I think they're cheap and junky.

EDIT: They do make a good point about the original XPS dropping off the face of the planet now and it's not too old. However, I'm not into dumping thousands of dollars into systems year after year. I want to best and then I'm going to walk away for a few years (2 minimum).

Come on guys, you know that the 7700 is WAY better than the XPS2, I mean, didn't you look at Alienwares comparison charts of the 2?

Silly Alienware

Alien has "Rubber Grips," does XPS2 have that? No. Alienware has 2 (count it 2) types of graphics cards to chose from (way better than just Nvidia only). Alienware has 256MB PCI-Express x16 Graphics and XPS2 doesn't (according to the chart).

I think it's clear that Alienware is SO MUCH BETTER than the XPS2. I mean, I didn't know at first, but the rubberized grips did it for me.

Don't forget the PC4200 dual channel ram AW thinks the XPS2 does not have
The rubberized grips on my AW sure do feel like plastic... nothing rubber about them
Why did they not mention how much each one weighs
